Alabaster
How may I trace such beauty
trapped in flawless stone?
A perfect face, carved with grace,
yet resting all alone?
Oh, what a crime, what atrocity
to turn and leave you here,
veiled and hidden from all sight
when your glory may disappear!
Surely no one would try to hide
your beauty, your majesty.
May no one take you or keep you away,
trapped in selfish greed.
Oh, alabaster, what a wonder,
your unblemished, unbroken skin!
You wear your splendor on your face
and keep nothing within.
Yet, alabaster, not in vain
you wear your prestige proud,
but you hold nothing deep within
and brag how you are endowed.
In your simplicity, you boast
and stand taller than the rest.
You use your beauty as a shield
to hide your once imperfect mess...
