Every day was a day to look forward to. It was like a great weight was released from my shoulders. Ever since I met Ernesti, we meet up everyday on top of the same hilltop to cover more books about this world, the places, the technology, all of it. And especially Knights.
Ernesti was so obsessed with the Knights! If we took a break reading about other stuff and moved on to books covering the origins and technical side of Knights, Ernesti would go on and on about it for hours!
I didn't really mind though. Battle robots were not ever a real invention back in our previous life. So this was somewhat new and quite interesting since fighting robots are basically something out of a TV show or movie. It really made me think of 'Transformers' or 'Code Geass'.
It really did feel like a weight coming off my shoulders, though. I was no longer held back or restricted by my parents when it came to the books I can read. Now that I've met Ernesi, I can meet him everyday and we could read the books I'm interested in... together!
This is what we did everyday. We would meet up at the top of the grassy hilltop, and read. I was ready to leave the house one day to meet up with Ernesti. "Where are you off to in such a hurry?" I could hear my mothers curious voice as she was cleaning dishes.
"To... meet up with a friend. Bye!" I waved before leaving out the door. I couldn't have heard this because I already left out the door, but my parents both smiled and shared their relief over how they were glad that I was finally starting to make friends.
And I was glad too. I've been so distracted with my goals, my dreams, and so on, I had long forgotten the importance of making friends. And because of that I'm really glad I met Ernesti. Meeting him, I was able to both make a friend, and get ever closer in discovering more about this world and eventually deciding what I want to do in this life.
While it was true I first decided that I wanted to become an adventurer, there are also other options available to me as well. While I could become an adventurer, traveler, or other, there are many other options still available to me.
And reading all these different books with Ernesti has really opened up my mind to whole other possibilities. He sounded so passionate about the knights and wanting to one day become a piloter of one. He made it sound like the greatest feat someone could accomplish in this life... the greatest experience!
And back when we first met, he asked me if I wanted to join him in his dream of becoming a pilot of a Knight. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad to take up on his offer. If I become a piloter of a Knight, I will surely have adventurers and action packed tales to write about. Yeah! And I would be protecting the kingdom in the meantime. Actually, that sounds great! Perhaps... I'll do it after all.
"Um... Ernesti, I've been thinking about it." I started off. Ernesti lifts his gaze away from the pages of the book spread out before us to shift his focus on me.
