JAMES

"At least pretend you're having a good time." My close friend Xavier said, sliding a glass of tequila in my direction.

We sat in the VIP section of a prestigious club. He forced me to join him because apparently I really had become boring. Catalina encouraged me to join him and at the end of an hour long phone call with her and endless persistence from my friend I finally said fuck it.

"I am having a good time." I said, boredom coating my voice. "What makes you think I'm not?" The question was rhetorical.

"Christ." He muttered into his glass, tossing the clear amber brown liquid back. "We grew up together asshole. I know everything about you." He stated matter of factly.

He was right, the only thing he didn't know was that I felt an intense attraction towards my niece's fucking friend. I still couldn't get her out of my damn head.

"Really?" I deadpanned. "What's my favourite colour?" He laughed at my question and threw a piece of paper at me which I easily dodged.

"You're not my girlfriend, don't ask me stupid ass questions like that." He said, leaning back in the chair. "Is that-" He looked behind me and I turned around to see who he was looking at. "Sophia."

My heart skipped a beat and my jaw nearly dropped. The trio of friends strutted into the vicinity but my eyes immediately zeroed in on one particular brunette.

A red dress adorned her curvaceous figure, ending mid thigh. Her long hair had been curled and hung over her large breasts. Her cleavage was on full display and I swear all the men were gawking at the women as they leisurely passed everyone - heading straight to the bar.

I turned my attention back to Xavier, trying to maintain a straight facial expression. "I haven't seen her in such a long time, she's beautiful." My jaw ticked and heat spread through my body at the thought of other men having the exact same thoughts of her, if not worse.

She's not yours and you're engaged. My subconscious harshly reminded.

"I hope you're not expecting me to agree with that observation." I sipped on my tequila. My comment made him laugh.

"Well obviously not. You're off the market and besides I think she's too young for you so even if you were single I wouldn't expect you to say anything."

"How old do you think I am?" I raised an eyebrow, feeling slightly offended.

"Judging by your sour mood and your inability to indulge in anything remotely enjoyable I'd say fifty." A laugh resonated from my chest.

"Fuck you." He chuckled in response and got up from his seat. "Where are you going?" I inquired.

"To greet those lovely ladies, one of them happens to be your niece you know. Did you plan on pretending you didn't see them?" Fuck yes.

"We all know why you're eager to greet all of a sudden." He smirked at me but I rolled my eyes, sinking deeper into the chair. "Go ahead, I'll be there shortly."

"You might want to make it snappy, there's already a guy approaching them." He said, making me turn around to see if it was true. "Well, approaching Sophia but nevertheless."
