It wasn't something either of them spoke of, the evening that he had to take her back. It was painful, straining on the bond they had slowly built. That deeply concreted foundation of trust and respect for one another they created. The memories they made within the four walls of his home. Even after he dropped her back off at the Palace, the cab of his truck carries the sour stench of an unhappy Delta. The scent of her pheromones lingered, stirring up his primal side. The side that wanted nothing more than to storm back inside and bring her back. To keep her safe, and feel her lay on his chest again. Purring in contentment at the comfort he provided her.
“Hey man” Hesh smiled as he got into the truck, the pair on their way to base for a new mission, he paused a minute.
“Jesus, what did you do piss your omega off?” He teased, Keegan glanced over and nodded.
“Somethin’ like that” He mumbled, focusing on the road in front of him. It never came up in conversation why exactly she was at the Omega Palace. Keegan wasn't the type to judge, everyone had their thing. Had reasons for what they did, but Skylar? She didn't seem like the type. It was obvious she wasn't there for pleasure. Nor was she there because she enjoyed serving others. It was a train of thought that went round and round in his mind with no end in sight.
6 weeks later
Others noticed before he did. Hesh and Logan, Merrick even saw the changes. The exhaustion that laid obvious in his eyes, the grumpiness and shortening temper. For once in his life, in his year of service ….he missed a shot.
He missed the target
It may have only been a few inches off, but he never missed a shot. His mind was frazzled, sleep deprived and unable to shake that bratty Delta from his thoughts. As if she had somehow wiggled her way under his skin and made a permanent home there. Plaguing him in the worst times. He needed her. Just as much as she needed him.
He needed to bring her home
Home
“Yo Skylar want to go another round?!” Someone's voice called across the bustling bar, the name made Keegan’s head snap in the direction of the voice. The first thing he had done after returning to base was go to Omega Palace in an attempt to find her. He hadn’t thought much further into what he would do at that point, maybe just seeing her would calm him, or maybe spending the night with her. But all those hopes were crushed the second James informed him she was no longer a member of the palace. Having left their club the month before, two weeks after he had seen her. After a few degrading comments from James regarding her dominant and brash personality he walked out. Unable to quell the sudden anger he felt, slamming his fist into the door of his truck. Denting in the sheet metal and breaking the skin of his knuckles in the process. She was gone, his chance slipped between his fingers before he even realized what he would miss.
She challenged him, tested him. Keeping him on his toes around every turn yet……she could be herself with him. And that brought him a pride like no other. Knowing that she felt accepted by him as she was with no hiding.
“Yeah yeah, I’m coming” A voice drew him from his thoughts, seeing the shorter female walking toward a trio of males with beers in hand. He could only see her from behind. The long silky strands that had been tangled around his fingers, the sway of her hips that he remembered like the back of his hand as he rode into her. Those tattoos..
