the beeps were loud, nauseating, and the constant checks up felt wrong. the bandages wrapped around her stomach were fresh and smelled of new shoes, the ribbons on her hands were tight, straining her movements. the medicine shoved down her throat to control the pain was overbearing, and the person sitting completely exhausted beside her was lost in thought, keeping his eyes peeled towards the cleared field.

" you can leave, you know. " she lead on, her hand draped over her injured torso. somehow the shock of fighting pieck had taken away from her opened wounds. she'd developed bruises leading up her thighs from the weapon of choice and the pounds in her head were just a add on to her magic. an over docent.

" sasha told me to stay, so i'm staying. " eren rushed out, almost like an excuse. she couldn't help but close her eyes and sigh out in easements. eren yeager, as confusing as he is, could somehow be nice. she thought back to her words, she swore to herself she'd wouldn't try again, she wouldn't allow him to keep a hold over her mind and aching heart, but now sitting beside her was a different person, a person whose buttons were pushed and had no choice but to relay the same energy.

was she at fault? was a pondering thought. she mentioned his brother, which according to sasha is a huge stop sign. they were nowhere near close and almost held a bond like strangers. she was in the wrong most definitely, but were his words even better? he blamed their differences on his best friend, a best friend who'd begged her to get along with the boy. it wasn't horrible, but more so misleading.

she couldn't subside the look in his eyes after he muttered those hurtful words. he was filled with truthfulness, like he blamed all of their inconveniences on the girl who wanted him. when in reality, they were both at fault. their snappy and loose tempered, always finding a way to fall into violence, which in itself screams of toxicity, but after they somehow find ways to work through it.

could she keep repeating this. was all she could think about. was she willing to let this game of harm continue? she would, somehow, she was willing to try again with him, but at what cost now. he would only find a way to do it again. breathing harshly, the iv hooked up to her veins were an issue, she could barely move her left arm without the machine clanking from the disturbance.

" eren, " she spoke into existence before thinking, his name rested on the tip of her tongue.

" we can't keep doing this. " she followed up, her eyes drifting towards the right, she could see hange and mike lining up some of members, most likely the ones able to move. she could see the emptiness of the field, had they won?

" i know, " he replied, his head draped down. his fingers resting over his thighs. she couldn't look his way, she was afraid her actions would differ, she would rather not see his face for her next words.

" my power, " taking a deep breath, the joints in her fingers were tensed, she stretched the limbs subtly. " my power depends on my emotions. " once she uttered those words, eren's head perked up slightly, he's never heard that, huh.

" so, this.. whatever we have going on, needs to be clear. i can't keep risking my life. " her life. that's what it is. her body was depleted because of her rolling thoughts. she tried tuning him out, tuning them both out, but nothing could stop her influence. she could barely keep her head straight when eren spoke to her. it was something so small, something anyone else would've overlooked. she was taking him for granted.
