It was 9pm at night when I couldn't get any sleep. My eyes were wide open but my heart was pounding like drum for no reason. But why? All I did was save people from danger, read the latest chapter of my favorite novel, and fixing a stitch on my favorite blanket. However, these things couldn't have caused my heart to pound. Then what is?
I sat up and thought, maybe I can call someone who knows. Splendont? Flippy Maybe? Or perhaps maybe someone I'm familiar with...like Carrie! Thump!
"huh? Did my heart just beat quite fast after saying Carrie's name?...Wait a minute...What is this feeling I'm getting?! Am I actually...in love? Carrie is like my sidekick but did I develop feelings for her after 2 years? After all, we did hangout together often and I saved her a few times from being killed...Maybe so but Carrie seems like a independent woman who lives by herself with no family besides her step sister. She doesn't seem like the type to want to be with someone at the moment. Then again, she hasn't been seeing anyone since we met from what I can gather. Or am I being mistaken? Oh God! I'm not like this at all! Okay okay calm down Splendid! Just sit down for a second and think!" I grabbed a cup of hot tea from the kitchen but my hands, they were shaking crazy that I ended up breaking the glass cup and spilling hot tea on the floor.
"I need to have a chat with Carrie about this! If I don't, I might end up breaking my house or causing a earthquake to hit the city! Or worse, possible death!"
Finally with enough courage, I grabbed my red mask and flew off to Carrie's home. It was a bit far but I can't complain. I mean, I live in top of a mountain or hill for that matter. Anyways, after landing on Carrie's doorstep, I knocked gently on her front door expecting her to be asleep or maybe even grumpy for waking her up but instead of that...I'm greeted with Carrie, wearing her pink rose robe, her hair down, plus her eyes...those beautiful ocean blue eyes were looking straight at me with surprise.
"H-Hey Carrie, sorry if I woke you up!" I smiled as I placed a hand behind my head. Her expression seemed rather calm too...as if, she was just her normal everyday self.
"No worries Hero! I was actually quite awake haha! But what are you doing here? Isn't this your time to rest or something?"
"Actually...I couldn't sleep at all. You see, I wanted to see you if you were still awake!"
From the looks of it, Carrie has a big of reddish color on her cheeks. Is that normal? Does she have a temperature maybe?
"I-I mean, Im quite flattered Splendid! What's the occasion? Did a woman make you feel this way?"
I gave a smirk and tried to play it cool. But this could also cost us our friendship. What if she doesn't like me that way? What if I scare her away?
"Splendid, you're sweating! Are you okay?" Carrie looked a bit worried as I sweat slowly. I can feel my heart thumping again!
"Here, let's sit down for a moment and take a deep breath. I can tell you're feeling some type of way about this lady. Can you tell me what's going on?"
Carrie grabbed my hand with her left hand land the other on my head. Surely enough, I started to calm down. It seemed like her hands have a magic touch to them while my have to power to shake a entire planet.
"Okay okay, I'm alright now...." I looked at Carrie, straight in the eyes, and took a deep breath. "Carrie...2 years ago we met and our friendship os growing each day. But lately, my heart, it's been acting crazy and I thought it was the caffeine I drank earlier or the movement from saving others. However, it wasn't because everytime I mention you to anyone like myself or my brother, it's my heart that acts up. Nothing else..."
Carrie was quiet and speechless but also, she was listening to every word I said. I grabbed her hand and placed it on my chest, the thumping was still happening. Then I said what i had to say....
"What I'm trying to say is...I love you Carrie Matthews..."
The sudden urge to cry for what's about to come next. Bad or good...I was prepared with my eyes closed until...I felt a soft touch on my lips pressing. Upon opening my eyes, I saw Carrie, leaned towards me, hand on still on my chest, and her lips pressed against my own. She's kissing me?! I thought before kissing her back, wrapping an arm around her waist. The moon shined upon us as we kissed underneath it. Soon enough, we ended the kiss and smiled to one another as Carrie looked up at me to reply.
"And I love you too...Splendid. I wanted to make the first move actually until you did. But at least now, I know you felt the same way...."
There was a sudden silence afterwards until I gave a chuckle. So she felt the same way for a while as well huh? I guess that makes two of us! We both sat on the grass with our hands intertwined for while until Carrie fell asleep on my shoulder. I brushed her hair off her face with my hand and laid her down beside me. Slowly and surely, we both ended up sleeping together underneath the stars. This was a start to a new chapter for me and Carrie. Together forever...
