(Armin's pov):

"Alright brat, it's your turn to cook dinner for tonight. I don't give a shit what it is, just don't make it taste like titan crap."

The corporal stood in front of me with his usual emotionless face. I nodded and saluted him, standing in a perfect stance.

"Dismissed Arlert. Have the food done by six."

The corporal walked out of the room and I let out a breath I didn't realize I was holding. I made my way to the kitchen and searched for a nice sized pot. Once I found the biggest pot I started boiling water inside it. I really didn't mind the fact I was assigned the cook dinner for the night. It is another free day which was quite rare here but I would only have been reading books in the library. It's a nice change of pace no matter how small it is. I pulled out the vegetables from the shelves above and set them next to me as I got a knife from the drawer next to my hips. I began to chop up the veggies with a clean precision and began to hum to a tune that I overheard someone singing the day before. I suddenly got the feeling that eyes were on me. I swung my head around, but saw no sign that anyone was there or had been.

'Hm must have just been someone passing by. I'm so bored my imagination is beginning to get to me.'

I scooped up all of the chopped vegetables and dropped them into the pot of boiling water. I began to sway my hips slightly to the tune, getting caught up in the moment.

"ARMIN HAAAAAAHAAAAA OH MY GOD!"

I screeched inhumanly loud and jumped ten feet in the air. Still next to the pot of boiling water, I bumped my hand onto the exterior as I jumped.

"OOOOW! OW OW OW OW."

I raced over to the sink and began to run my hand under the ice cold water. After several moments I pulled it out and began to dry my hand with the towel.

"Yo Armin are you ok? What just happened?"

I turned to face the person who scared me.

"J-Jean..."

I trailed off as the stinging on the skin of my hand returned.

(Jean's pov):

I looked at Armin who was cradling his left hand, tears glistening in his eyes. Not that I'd say it out loud, but I was worried about the little blond.

"Look, sorry I scared ya and all, but I saw you dancing and humming and it was really funny."

Armin's face turned a dark shade of red.

"You saw that? No no no no."

I chuckled again. He was just being too adorable. To be honest, I had a small thing for the smart boy. He was so brave despite having little to no respect for himself. Armin walked back over to the stove and began to stir the food in the pot. I walked up next to him to examine the contents of the pot when I noticed a searing red mark on the back of his hand. Without a second thought I snatched his hand and ran my finger over the mark. Armin yelped and jumped back from me.

"Armin, when did that happen? Did it happen when I scared you?"

He looked down the ground and nodded shyly.

"Crap, come with me."

I grabbed his wrist and began to pull him out of the kitchen. As we began to pass the threshold of the kitchen, Armin stopped moving.

"What the hell are you doing, we need to take care of that."

Armin shook his head and went back to the stove.
