The law of the clans

Defend your clan, even if it costs you your life. Your loyalty is always and only to your own clan.

You may never hunt or enter the territory of another clan.

Elders and Kits are provided with prey first, before warriors and apprentice .

An apprentice may not eat his hunted prey before the clan has been supplied.

Prey is only hunted to feed on it.

A kit must be at least six moons old to become an apprentice

When newly appointed warriors have received their warrior name, they keep Silent Vigil for one night.

A warrior must be at least twenty moons old to become a mentor.

The leader decides who becomes whose mentor.

A cat can only be appointed Deputy after having mentored a apprentice twice.

If a leader resigns or dies, his Deputy succeeds him.

The Deputy also represents the Leader during the Leader's absence.

After the death, retirement, promotion (to a leader status), or exile of the deputy, the new deputy must be chosen before moonhigh

Every full moon, all clans will meet for the Gathering. There shall be no fighting among the Clans at this time.

Territory borders must be checked and marked daily. Cats who trespass must be chased away and the leader must be informed.

The word of the leader of a clan is law. Here, too, there are punishments if it is broken.

A warrior rejects the soft life of a kittypet.

Elders and kittens, as well as sick and injured cats, are given prey first, before warriors and apprentices.

Apprentice are not allowed to eat until they have permission or have hunted for the elders.

Warriors and medicine cats cannot change clan.

Queens who have kittens and are able to care for them must remain in the nursery until their kittens become apprentice.

Cats who are over one hundred moons old are considered elders and may resign their position.

Elders must be treated with respect.

The mentor decides whether his apprentice is allowed to attend the big gathering.

Apprentices and kits are not allowed to leave the territory.

The deputy organizes the patrols after sunrise.

Medicine apprentices are not allowed to have mates.

After three moons of apprenticeship, the Night of Destiny usually takes place, when the cats have another chance to change their minds.

A fully trained apprentice is tested by the leader.

A few facts about the law:

There were rumors circulating in GemClan and also in MidnightClan about ThunderClan, ShadowClan, RiverClan, CloudClan, and WindClan and their Law of Warriors. The three founders of LeafClan, MorningClan and EveningClan, i.e. Fernstar, Tendrilstar and Seastar used them for their law.

The law of GemstoneClan was: The word of the leader is law. Anyone who contradicts, disobeys or breaks the law is killed or banished.

The laws of MidnightClan are not known.

Almost nothing is known about MoorClan or the clans before it, whose remnants it consists of, except that a curse caused it to disband.In Farnstern's clan, the rules are kept more strictly than in the other clans.

The law only applies to LeafClan, EveningClan, MorningClan, ShadowClan and later to CityClan.
