It is pouring heavily, some time before the sky was so bright so now I can hardly believe it's raining. I stood under the roof of the cubicle glad of its existence. Many vehicles passed and the students had already left to their homes leaving only me inside this cubicle. I looked at my legs losing my patience, the brownish drops, a mixture of rainwater and dirt splattered all around my lower leg. But the person who claimed to pick me up didn't arrive at all. I called his number too many times but his phone is not responding. It's been forty minutes already. The chilly wind makes it more hard. I am not used to this neighborhood at all. Seoul streets are so busy but here it is not. Vehicles only pass once in a while. Was it usually like this? Or is it because of the heavy rain? Where is he? I tapped my foot at the urgency and my filling bladder.
I lied to JungKook as it is best. If I'd told him the truth, I am sure he would've been waiting with me for this unknown Jimin guy. I said that I was going with Bora to her house. I thought that was a good idea as I didn't expect to be left alone in this heavy rain. The worst thing is I don't remember the way back home very well.
"Maybe, if I walk I can pick it up" I started to walk to my left. Raindrops hit my body sharply. I remember it's left. Or should I call Jung Kook? I contemplated again. If something happens that's worse than getting some scolds. I took my phone out and dialed Jung Kook's number. Just then a black car passed my body so closely like it arrived just for me. It stopped and reversed back. Maybe Jimin is here finally. I quickly cut the call. The side window opened revealing two young boys with so much hair covering their look. Who is Jimin in this? I stood in the heavy rain not sure yet. Jimin didn't utter any word about bringing another guy with him. What if none of these two is Jimin? It's better if I ignore them.
"Yeonji what are you doing, get in already" Okay if I get in just like that, that's a stupid move, last time I checked my head, and It didn't say I am stupid.
"Who are you guys?" I asked gritting my teeth at the growing chill. Even though I have no idea to get in. The rain gets heavier and heavier as time passes.
"You don't remember us" okay. I quickly turned around again dialling Jung Kook's number. Pick up. pick up. I quickly walked back to the booth continuously looking back at the black car. To my surprise, the car smoothly faded from my eyesight. I am relieved that I didn't get in. Who are they?
"Hello"
"Jungkook, can you please come fast" My voice trembled. One it is super cold. Two, what happened seconds ago was sure, scary. I guess he noticed the tremble.
"where are you right now, I will come" He panicked. I am sure I heard fear in his voice.
"near school. Inside the booth" I check the road again. What if they come back?
"what are you doing there, okay don't hang up, I am coming"
"Okay that's too much" he is worried. I am sure I will get an earful from him.
...
"You told me you are going with Bora" I avoided his scary eyes while drying my hair with the small black towel. The hot coffee which JungKook brought after seeing me tremble in cold sat on the beverage holder, not touched yet. All I can think about is what to tell him. The reason for lying. Truth is easier. As Jimin said Yeonji was his drink buddy, so that's not something bad. JungKook won't find the fact I tried to meet up with him secretly as suspicious.
"That was a lie" I laughed sheepishly, throwing the towel on the back seat, I took a small sip from the cup and waited for him to speak but he was confusingly silent.
"Okay, Jimin and I"
"WHAT?" He stopped the car abruptly catching me off guard. I looked at him in disbelief. Half of my coffee spilled on my white wet shirt. It can't get messier.
