Running through the wall between platforms nine and ten was a weird sensation, it gave me goosebumps and sent chills down my spine. On the other side it was packed with adults saying goodbye to their children who were boarding the train, some were crying and others were bursting with joy.

Me and Harry wasted no time boarding the Hogwarts Express, we put our trunks in the luggage area and found an empty compartment. After a few moments of us sitting in silence still trying to process everything that had happened in the last month the red-headed boy from the platform entered the compartment.

"Do you mind?" The boy said gesturing to the empty seat opposite Harry. "Everywhere else is full."

"Sure!"

"Not at all."

Me and Harry were glad the boy wanted to sit with us. I was right, he could be a friend.

"I'm Ron by the way, Ron Weasley."

"That's my sister [name], and I'm Harry, Harry Potter." Ron raised his eyebrows and opened his mouth in shock. Oh, here we go.

"So-so it's true? I mean, do you really have the... the..." Ron lowered his voice and his eyes scanned around the compartment nervously.

"The what?" Harry said, puzzled.

"Scar." Ron whispered. Why was he so scared to mention Harry's scar? Maybe Ron thought it was a sensitive subject.

"Oh, yeah." Harry smiled, lifting his fringe, revealing the lightning bolt shaped scar on his forehead.

"Wicked." Harry and Ron started talking so I thought they must be friends now. I told them I was going to the toilet but really just wanted a friend. I've shared everything with Harry my whole life and I decided now is a good time to get a friend of my own.

When I left the compartment I bumped into a bushy-haired girl around my age.

"Sorry." We said together.

"Have you seen a toad anywhere? A boy named Neville has lost one."

"No I haven't, sorry. Uhm, is it your first year at Hogwarts too?" I didn't even know how to make friends, everyone at Primary hated us because of Dudley's gang so I thought I would try and make a conversation and hope for the best. This girl seemed nice.

"Yes! I'm really nervous though, I didn't even know about Hogwarts until I got my letter."

"Me too." I didn't know what else to say now.

"What's your name? I'm Hermione Granger."

"[Name] Potter." Hermione's eyes widened like Ron's did. I fought back the urge to roll my eyes. if she didn't even know about Hogwarts how did she know about Harry?

"I read about what happened, I bought loads of books because otherwise I thought I would be behind." Oh great, on top of everyone ignoring me to talk to Harry I'm going to be behind.

"Oh." I put my head down a little, I wanted to go and find someone who didn't know about Harry. But Hermione must've recognized how I was feeling and carried on talking to me.

"Are you excited for school?"

"Yeah!" My face lit up with excitement. "I can't wait to do magic."

"Me too. I better go and find Neville's toad before we arrive, I'll see you at Hogwarts." Hermione smiled at me.

"Okay, see you." I smiled back at her and she disappeared into the compartment Harry and Ron were in.

I carried on my hunt to find more friends, I think Hermione was a friend but there's no harm in finding more. As I was walking down the train I was sneakily looking through the windows at the people inside, most of them were older students and some of them looked quite scary. I didn't want to talk to them, I wanted to find people my own age. One of the compartments had two brown-haired boys inside. I took a deep breath, thinking about what to say as I slowly opened the compartment door. They stopped their conversation and stared at me. I wished I never went in here but it was too late to back out now.
