What is an Underdog?

An Underdog, somebody who is usually at a disadvantage in most situations and isn't expected to come out on top. Expected to be the loser.

What is a Dark Horse?

A Dark Horse, somebody with little information on them who unexpectedly takes the audience by surprise with hidden talent.

What do these things have in common? Simple really, they aren't the favored ones. Nobody is expecting anything from them so when they win, it's a real shocker.

A Speeding Train!

Why would anybody want to be either of those things?

...

...

...

A harder answer, but not really.

The train continued to speed, grinding on the tracks.

To be the Underdog. To be the unexpected winner... is to be the one who overcame all obstacles. The one who could never be doubted again.

The one who showed the rest who was truly on top.

To be a Dark Horse, practically the rival to an Underdog. To be the one who managed to keep everything hidden and when in need, reveal themselves to the world and stand with all the glory as the victor.

Both terms are what many should strive for... but not many have the drive...

Which one would you be...?

Static.

A Train Crash...!

What a tragedy!

-Train Station, September 7th, 2000-

The trains were as quick as ever. A boy stood there, waiting. It was a blissful day, full of life. Once the train arrived, the boy got on. He had put headphones on and listened to some music while standing on the train.

Speaker: Next stop, Nagoya.

The boy looked out of the window of the train. It was subtly sweet for him. Just then, he saw smoke. The passengers felt a little worried. It was another train which had crashed.

"Oh, wow. That's unfortunate."

???: Hmm?

"It's sad to see so many get hurt over something like this."

I don't care.

It's the drivers fault for being so incompetent. It's the passengers fault for allowing themselves to be put in an incompetent drivers care. Now, they are all deceased... like useless cattle.

The boy's views on the situation were grim. He just stared out of the window in slight disgust.

"Say, you have a distasteful look on your face."

???: Huh?

"Oh, nothing. Just a small observation."

???: Right...

The train ride wasn't too long. Once at the train station, the boy got off and walked out. He was in a big city and began to head to the home of his family. They were waiting in a car right outside the station for him.

"Hey there, champ!"

???: Hmm.

Noise. So much noise. I can't stand these noisy car rides with such a loud family. Heh. I can't help but love my family though.
