"Oh my god do you remember that time in high school when we ran out of that detention?" My friend Avery asks the group.
"Yeah we thought we were so tough" my friend Sophie laughs.
"You were shitting it" my other friend Lexi says to Sophie.
"No I wasn't" Sophie shakes her head. I laugh.
"You so were" Avery smiles.
"Imagine if they saw us now...like the teachers. Imagine if they saw us living our rich lifestyle in Monaco" Lexi changes the subject.
"They'd be dead jealous" I smile.
"Or proud" Avery adds.
"Well of you, since the amount of science lessons you skived, I'm surprised you passed" Sophie laughs.
"You did it too" Avery adds. I sip my glass of wine.
"Me and Nat never did it, we were good girls" Lexi smiles.
"Or pussies" Avery snickers.
"Shut up, I wasn't a pussy" I say, "I was the one who got in a fight for all of you, against that Melissa girl".
"And we're grateful for that" Sophie sighs.
"You bring that up at every chance you get, we get it you're proud of your only fight" Avery laughs.
"Not my only" I laugh.
That's when the doors burst open of the restaurant and flashing cameras come running through. There was a large crowd of them. Who were they following?
We all get up looking over expecting so hot celebrity. It was Charles Leclerc. My ex. The man that ruined my life.
Am I exaggerating? No.
Mine and his eyes locked and I watched as his eyes widened. I lowered myself back into my seat with my head down."Shit girl it's Charles" Lexi sighs.
"How long has it been since you saw him?" Avery asks.
"3 years" I mumble back. It had been 3 years since I had seen any trace of that man. Not after what he did with me. After he left me to raise a child by myself.
"Damn that's rough" Sophie says.
He then starts to walk over to us."Shit girl! Look good he's on his way over" Avery says. The paparazzi had gone now and it was just him.
I look up at him and he looks down at me when he stops at our table.
"Where's the child?" He asks.
There was no 'hi', no 'how are you'. He was straight to the point."What?" I ask.
"The child...where is he?" He asks.
"Not...here" I suggest.
"Right well where is he?" He asks, looking around.
"He's not your child Charles" I sigh.
His eyes widened. "What do you mean he's not my child?" He asks, "he's been the only thing on my mind for years after you posted that photo of him on your instagram...and now you're telling me he isn't my child?".
"I-" I couldn't produce words and none of my friends knew what to say.
"tell me the damn truth, Natalie." his eyes narrowed at me.
"It's got nothing to do with you...Jules is not here" I sigh.
"Jules..?" he asked, his heart pounding in his chest.
"That's his name...Jules..." I reply.
he couldn't believe what you were saying. he took a step back from you and looked away. he took a moment to process the information... Jules...
He stood there, not knowing what to say, until he managed to put some words together."jules... is my... son?"
"No...I don't know...I- no" I stuttered.
"he's not my son..?" he asked now in a more angry tone, you could tell he was starting to get frustrated. "then why in gods name would you call him 'jules'..?! why would you give him my godfathers name if he's not my son..?"
"I...I don't know?!" I sat back rather agitated.
"Where is he Natalie?" He asks.
"At home...being babysat...because I'm out with my friends" I say referring to my friends who were sat quietly while we talked.
"How could you do this to me Natalie?" He asks.
"What do you mean 'how could I do this to you'?" I ask, snapping back at him, "You left me...to 'focus on your career', a career you've got nowhere in since we broke up".
"Don't talk about my career like that!" He snaps back.
"Just leave Charles" I sigh.
"So you're not even going to let me meet my son?" He asks.
"He isn't your-" Charles cuts me off.
"Don't even dare finish that sentence when you know every word of it is a lie" he sighs, folding his arms.
"Another time Charles" I sigh.
"Another time?! Are you taking the piss? I've searched for you and...Jules for the past 2 or so years of my life! And you're telling me 'another time'? No! Because I know I will never see you again!" He snaps.
"But I'm with my friends..." I sigh.
"They won't mind, right?" He asks my friends. They don't answer at first and then just nod slowly.
"See come on, take me" he sighs.
