Kendall Rae recently released a documentary on Jessica Easterly & I think it's important for her case to be solved , & justice to be given. I hope this reaches the intended audience & pushes her case even closer to being solved.

Google Searches barely result in ANY information about Jessica's case , meaning her case CLEARLY hasn't been pushed out to the world as it should've been.

Background on Jessica Ranae Easterly.
Jessica was born August 17, 1976, & she grew up in Ocean Springs, Mississippi. She enjoyed dancing, fashion, cooking, and reading. Jessica also graduated from the University of South Alabama with a degree in speech pathology & audiology.

Jessica & Justin Timeline.
In 2010, she met & fell in love with Justin Durning. In 2015, the two got married. Eventually things began to take a turn in their relationship. Justin began isolating Jessica from her family & friends, & physical abuse occurred as well.

Jessica's Disappearance.
August 12, 2019.
Jessica called her friend Maria & begged her to come pick her up as her & Justin had been continuously fighting.  Unfortunately Maria lived hours away, & couldn't arrange a way for her to children to be picked up. So she promised Jessica she would come pick her up the next day. This was also the last day the two friends talked. Maria didn't hear from Jessica the rest of that evening, or the following day.

August 14, 2019.
Maria received a message from Jessica's Facebook account, this message wasn't from Jessica, it was from Justin. Justin asked if Jessica was with Maria, to which she responded & said that Jessica was not with her. Justin was then asked when he last saw Jessica, & he said that it was around noon that day, & that she hadn't taken her keys, ID, or phone with her. Maria wanted to contact the NOPD, but Justin argued that it would freak his daughter out.

Something that is important to note here is that Justin lied to Maria & said he contacted the NOPD & that they told him to wait 24 hours before calling back.

Regardless of this, Maria still sent the NOPD to the home for a welfare check. Police took the report on August 15, but seemed largely disinterested in Jessica's disappearance.

What Justin told the police was that Jessica was last seen in blue jeans, & a T-shirt. He also said that the day before he woke up from a nap at 3:00, only to find her gone from the house.

When Jessica's birthday passed on August 17, & she still hadn't made contact with anyone her sisters & cousin traveled to New Orleans to meet with detectives & organize a search party.

In the early morning hours of August 22, they decided to scout out the neighborhood to come up with a potential search route. They drove a few blocks from where Jessica lived, & noticed a foul odor, which prompted them to get out & search on foot. From this search it led them to a tree-lined, wooded area of City Park. Here they found Jessica's body. She was wearing black shorts, a black tank top, & black shoes.

The NOPD was notified about the finding, but of course authorities didn't spend any time at the scene. They failed to secure the crime scene, & also failed to identify Jessica's body for two months due to the mishandling & loss
of a DNA sample . Jessica's body was not properly identified until November 8th.

As if this wasn't enough, Jessica's body sat in the morgue for over 4 months, before an autopsy was even performed. The coroner classified her death as "undetermined," but strongly believed that a drug related death could not be ruled out. It was further confirmed that her liver tested positive for methamphetamine & bupropion—which is a medication commonly used in the treatment of bipolar disorder which Jessica had been diagnosed with.

After Jessica's remains had been found, but not yet identified, Justin continued to pose as her in order to sell lingerie, shoes, & other personal items. However, after the DNA testing had been released he could no longer keep up this lie. Instead, he created a fundraising page that offered up exclusive photos, lingerie, shoes, & prerecorded videos of Jessica in exchange for donations.

This was unfortunately not the end of Justin's bizarre behavior. In 2020, he was detained for a 24 hour psychological observation after he approached a woman in a bar who was also named Jessica. He told this woman that his wife's name was Jessica & that she had died by suicide. As I said earlier, he was detained, but never formally questioned.

January 31, 2020.
Jessica's autopsy report was released. She had suffered a fractured nose, broken jaw, broken rib, and a broken C4 vertebrae, along with post-mortem disarticulation of the left second rib. Around this time they also stated that her body would be released to next of kin —Justin— but he didn't claim the body & Jessica remained in the morgue.

March 2020.
A couple in Jessica's neighborhood discovered a blanket & Jessica's crumpled ID near where her body had been found. Though the couple immediately contacted the NOPD, it took them 170 days to collect these items. The police also didn't bother to question Justin on if this was the same ID Jessica had supposedly left behind, or if it was a duplicate.

Since the police failed to DNA test the ID card & the blanket, Jessica's body remained in the morgue. At this point a formal complaint was filed with the Public Integrity Bureau. It took another four months before the family heard back from the bureau. Later that fall, CSI were called to the Durning home to collect samples from a futon & a headboard that were set outside as trash. This revealed nothing incriminating.

February 2021.
After 530 days Jessica's body was turned over to her family.

Nothing has been done YET. No justice has been given, no proper investigation has taken place. It's as if Jessica's death meant NOTHING. & that is far from the case.

Please, Please, Please find the petition online & sign it so that her case can get reopened, filed as a homicide, & properly investigated. The Easterly family deserves some closure, & Jessica deserves JUSTICE!!!
