Chapter 3: Twinadoes

"Mom says its time for dinner!", one of the twins said while bursting into my room and promptly running out. Was that Joseph? Or Jacob? Oh well never mind, I shrugged and followed my nose to find the dining room.

A elegantly furnished dining room greeted my eyes as I entered. The dining room was elegant, but looked lived-in and had a homey feel to it, one that my mother's dining room never had.

"Sit next to me Alison!", both the twins yelled at the same time. Edward snorted and ignored them both. "Sit anywhere you want dear", Holly beamed at me. I settled myself between Joseph and Jacob, and dinner progressed. A maid served beef pasta, my favorite, and I eagerly fed. Halfway through my meal, I felt a slimy feeling progressing up my legs. Looking down, I saw a snake climbing up my legs. I screamed and shot out of my chair, causing the chair and my plate to fall. The twins burst out laughing as they rolled over the floor. Holly looked horrified as I accidentally fell over onto Jasper, spraying him with chowder.

"This means war!", he said, before scooping up his chowder and launching it at me. I ducked, and it hit Edward, who in turn threw some back at Jasper, but the Hills seemed to be blessed with bad aim and great ducking skills. The chowder hit Nate, who returned the favor. This continued on until everyone, including Holly and Will, were soaking with chowder. Wiping some chowder away from his eyes, Will, who had received the bulk of his children's attacks, stared angrily at them all.

As if on cue, the wind chimes started ringing melodiously, and for some strange reason, the whole place suddenly felt stuffy and hot. Holly's eyes widened and she hastily placed a hand on Will. Instantly, the room was filled with a relaxing aura. Will took a deep breath, shut his eyes for a few moments, before clearing his throat and bellowing, "Children, I am extremely disappointed in your behavior. Have your mother and I not taught you well? You shame me to behave like this in front of a guest. Go to your rooms now. Jacob and Joseph will stay behind. The rest of you, go!"

"That was awesome!", David whispered as he slid past me. "Never in my 140 years have I ever witness Will so mad!"

"Shut up Dave!", Edward shot back, while giving him a shove and shooting him a questioning glance that seemed to have a hidden meaning.

What exactly they were hiding I didn't know, but I wanted to focus on something else. David said '140 years', not 14 years. I shrugged it off, thinking that he must have been joking.
