December 31, 2000

Gulf rubs his round swollen belly for the thousandth time since he carried his baby.

A feisty one he was, Gulf always thought.

He couldn’t wait until he could hold the tiny human in his arms.

All through the months he’s carried his sweet Chawarin(he finally came up with a name), Gulf couldn’t help but think of so many things at the same time.

Most of them involved one certain alpha who has not replied to any of his letters but Gulf never lost hope.

He knew Mew would return someday to keep his promise.

“Thinking about that alpha again,”

Gulf could recognize the bitter tone from the lady’s voice.

He turned his head to see his Rose Grandma approach him.

He’s seated by the balcony of the house she owned on top of the hill that overlooked the sea, a comforting place to be when he’s thinking.

“Grandma, that alpha is the father of my pup,”

Gulf said softly.

“And he’s not even here to take care of you, is he?”

she asked sternly making Gulf sigh.

“If he really did care, he should have come back by now, letter or none.”

“Maybe something happened that he couldn’t come,”

Gulf said.

“You’re being too optimistic about this, petal,”

Rose  approached Gulf and threaded her fingers through his hair.

“I just don’t want you getting hurt when such a time comes.”

Gulf only smiles and shakes his head.

“You’re thinking too far ahead, Grandma. I—“

Gulf stopped when he felt a pain on his belly.

When he looks down, he sees water pooling his feet.

“My water broke,” eyes wide and surprised, Gulf smiled.

“Grandma, I’m having my baby.”

Rose hurriedly stood and helped gulf back into the room.

The omega was clearly in pain and they had no time to make a run to the hospital which was on the other side of the island.

Luckily the old lady was an experienced midwife and knew just what to do.

Three hours later, filled with screams and cries, Gulf held his small healthy baby in his hands.

He cried as Rose handed the baby over to him.

He full on sobbed when the baby let out the faintest of smiles.
