I exhaled slowly in frustration, but quietly. The two men didn't seem to want to leave, and I didn't want to move until they did. I looked around me, and right behind me was some dense woods. "So you have a daughter, eh? How old is she?" The cop eyed the guy with interest. "Nine. Her name is Adalyn. Do you have any kids?"
"Oh yeah. A son who's fifteen and a daughter who's thirteen. Wild bunch." I zoned out, setting my stuff next to me and getting my water out. The backpack shifted on some twigs which made a crunching sound. "What was that?" The cop said loudly. I grabbed my stuff and put it back as quietly as I could. "Probably a bird." The cop was heading my way anyways. I held my breath, trying to get as low on the ground as I could. He stopped right in front of me, grabbing the branches and peering at where I was. "Whatcha doin there, girl?"
