VESTA'S POV

Finally. The end of the year has fallen upon us. And so has the party everyone has been anxiously waiting for.

A lot of the eighth-year students are making trips to Hogsmeade, so much that the other half of us have to wait for the teachers' permission to visit the village. It was almost funny how frustrated Lisa was.

She didn't want to wear the same dress she did for the Ball in our fourth year. I decided to wear it, though, because it actually looks better on me. I looked ridiculous back then. I'm glad that Mattheo wasn't there then, or he would tease me forever.

I took it out one late night. It's still in shape. It's a light blue dress, with two thin strands to hold the dress up. On the back, there's a lace to tighten it, and could be styled by tying the remains of the lace into a bow or tucking it in somewhere. Maybe I could wear a jacket or cardigan over it. The dress itself is pretty revealing. No sleeves, and an emphasis on the chest. I can already imagine how fitting it would be, how it would accentuate my curves. The chest area is imprinted in flowers of the same colour, slowly fading into hanging vines down the dress, before disappearing and leaving the dress a simple light blue. I have white heels to wear to go with this look, and I'm definitely going to wear the jewelry Mattheo gave me.

I lean forward, fingers brushing the dress, smoothening the wrinkles out. I then fold it up, tucking it back into my drawer. The next time I open it, it will be the day of the party.

Even if I have everything ready, I still join Lisa on her trip to Hogsmeade. Luna, Hermione and Hannah join us.

So fun.

While their main focus was to find dresses they liked, I was a bit of a drag. I ate like a pig. I can feel my stomach practically weighing me down from how much I ate.

I sit down as everyone looks through dresses. Lisa is looking through the purple ones, pressing it against her body. It's a nice one, with puffy sleeves, and matching gloves folded on the shelf underneath the rack. It has a slight sparkle to it, with a zip on the back. Hermione is going for a different look compared to the pink dress she wore for the Ball four years ago. A yellow one. Luna and Hannah decide to get striking colors, red and black.

"We are going to look like princesses," Lisa squeals, and we all agree with her.

When the day finally comes, everyone is huddled in their respective dorms, getting ready for the night of our lives. Hannah and Luna were getting ready elsewhere, so it leaves only Hermione and Lisa to get ready with me.

I take most of my time with my hair. I'm fussy over it, wanting every strand to be perfect. It's a half up, half down, the part that is tied into a tight bun. With my finger, I twirl some of my bangs, letting them frame my face. This is fine, acceptable. I can handle this.

I spin around, feeling the dress brush my bare legs. I smile to myself.

I look good.

"I'm done," I say cheerfully, looking over my shoulder. Hermione and Lisa squeal with me, grabbing my hand as they shower me with compliments.

"Wow!" Lisa exclaims, trying to touch my hair but I swat her hand away. Hermione laughs slightly.

"Don't wow me!" I responded. "You both look so beautiful!"

"Says you!"

We all laugh. They really do look beautiful. Hermione did buy that yellow dress. It's a simply v-neck dress, almost similar to how the neck of my dress is. It flows down to half of her calves. It's not exactly yellow, really. It's more of a mustard colour. I was surprised she got it, but she looks exceptional. Her brown hair is tied into a similar hairstyle as mine.
