When writing this, I had just finished reading Twilight, so the concept will be quite similar.
TW: Gore

"Ashur, where are you taking us?"

"Somewhere special to me. Ever since I came to this kingdom, I've loved this area. It's a nice place to relax after lessons."

We emerged into a small, secluded clearing. Weeping willow trees gracefully bowed around the outside of the circular area. Clusters of colorful wildflowers were peppered throughout the grass. Birds chirped above and a stream trickled nearby. The sun shone down upon us with its joyful face.

Ashur climbed the small hill in the center and I followed, still amazed by the tranquility and beauty of the area. He was right. It was refreshing. Still, it was better with him here.

He had moved to the kingdom of Limore a few months ago. Since then, we had steadily fallen in love with each other. His dark hair, his tan skin, his confident laugh... He's everything I could ever want in life. I was wary the first few times I met him- I'm the princess, after all, I always have to be careful- but he did what no other boy or man could do: he found his way into my heart.

We sat down in the soft grass together. I looked up at the sky and breathed in the sweet air, enjoying the peacefulness of the environment around us.

Ashur gently nudged me. I opened my eyes and saw his gazing into mine. They were a curious orange color, like a sunset or the petals of a marigold late in bloom. His smile was radiant.

"Nice place, isn't it?"

"Yes, it is." I sighed longingly. "I wish I knew about this place before. Then maybe we could have come here earlier in the year."

"We can stay for a few hours. We have lots of time. It's a Saturday, after all." He held my right hand and laid down on his back. I did the same. We stared up at the clouds lazily drifting by. The sun warmed my skin. So did Ashur's touch.

We talked for a while about various subjects. He told a few jokes that made me laugh, and I shared a few childhood stories. Even though I didn't know about Ashur's childhood or where he lived before coming to Limore, it didn't matter. We loved each other and that was that.

"What a nice place to be found."

Ashur tensed. The voice sent shivers down my spine. Proper, yet cold and malicious. We sat up and looked over at where it had come from. A man in a black tuxedo and a long, dark velvet cape stood in the shadow of a willow.

He stepped out into the sunlight. His jet black hair was tied up into a little ponytail. His skin was quite pale, though not abnormally. But the thing that caught my attention most about him were his blood red eyes.

Avoid anyone with blood red eyes. They're from Ruduria, the kingdom of vampires.

And they want to hunt me down.

"Why are you here?" Ashur demanded, standing. I stood with him. The man smiled coldly. He was oddly familiar.

"Why, to find out why you're not doing your job. I have assessed your progress recently, only to find that you are ill suited for this task. When we return, you will not have a share in the meal. Your failure is disappointing and embarrassing to me, therefore you should not have the right to participate."

"Ashur? What does he mean?" I asked worriedly. Something was wrong. Terribly, terribly wrong.

The man laughed loudly. "Is that the name you've chosen for your mission? 'Ashur'? What a pitiful name. Only peasants are named that."

"Shut up," Ashur growled.

"I think you should watch your tone when speaking to me, Aridam. I control your fate, and the fate of the Sacrifice. I'm not someone to annoy."
