"Shut up and get in the car already," my dad commands, holding a bunch of suitcases at the door.
I growled and closed my diary, after writing today's entry, and grabbed the last of my carry on and headed out the door.
I glanced back at my house one last time and sighed deeply. I'll miss this place so much. I didn't want to go honestly. I didn't know why we had to move. It was pointless really.
Not only are we moving! We're moving out of America! We've lived here in Florida since I was a baby. I've grown too attached to this place. Every single living soul, every grain of sand, every palm tree, every beach, every little detail all have such strong sentimental meaning to me.
I waited to hear the click of the car door unlocking to swing the door open and plop down on the only seat not covered in luggage.
My dad quickly put the suitcases in the trunk and hopped into the vacant drivers seat beside my mother, who at the moment was reading some silly romance novel like always, shoving the key in the ignition and turning it so the car comes to life.
"This is stupid," I mumbled as I looked out the window at the world passing me by. Goodbye Florida, the land I've loved for as long as I can remember, the land in which my family and friends occupied, the land in which I was born, the land in which I wanted to live forever, the land that held so many precious, fragile memories.
"I think you'll love it, Claire!" My mom gushed, looking up from her book and turning in her seat to face me.
"I don't think so, mom. I'm moving in the middle of my senior year! Senior year surrounded by complete strangers and in a strange place I've never been. They'll all make fun of my accent I bet and the way I dress because I'm going to be completely different. I simply won't fit in."
"You'll fit in just fine darling, no doubt."
I sighed and just sat there staring out the window angrily. In about an hour we will arrive at the airport and I'll get forced onto a stupid plane then we'll be on our way to Europe.
"Where are we moving anyways?" I ask already knowing where, trying to pass the time by. I honestly didn't care where it was, everywhere sucked in comparison to here, my REAL home, in my mind.
"Holmes Chapel, in the United Kingdom," my dad answers, smiling stupidly.
"Oh."
Europe. Pfft.
"Why?" I questioned in an annoyed tone. I wanted him to know I did not agree with any of this.
"Because, me and your mother just decided that we should get out of this country, things are getting sort of crazy and your mother had a job offer from the United Kingdom, this is our chance to-"
I searched my bag and pulled out some earbuds and pushed my long brunette hair away from my ears and pushed in the earbuds, plugging it into my iPhone and turning the music up to drown out the world around me, including the annoying rant by my dad that I did not want to listen to.
I think I drifted to sleep after a while because I opened my eyes to my mom carefully shaking my knee softly saying, "We're here hunny, wake up."
I sighed and got out of the car, grabbing my purse and a few carry on items the started for the entrance ignoring my dad calling to help him with the suitcases.
