"I CAN'T BELIEVE HER COACH
DID THAT TO HER." IMANI EXCLAIMED, AS SHE SAT
ON THE EDGE OF JACE'S BED.━━━━━━━━━━
After Crystal confided in Jace about her assault, he called Imani over the following day, not being able to withhold the information from her. "Yeah, that's what she's been trying to tell me for the past week. I can't believe I couldn't tell something was up. She's my best friend." Jace sighed, placing his head in his hands.
"Hey," She cooed, rubbing his back. "Do not beat yourself up about it. You couldn't have known; she didn't know how to tell you." Imani told him, causing him to drop his hands and nod. "I have to do something," Jace stated, making the girl widen her eyes. "No, no, no. You don't have to do anything other than tell an adult."
"What? No. I promised her I wouldn't tell anyone, and I already broke that by telling you." He replied. "Okay, but being unable to tell anyone doesn't mean you need to take matters into your own hands," Imani argued. "What Crystal needs right now is a friend. Not some damn vigilante."
"You're right, you're right." Jace nodded. "I'm serious, Jace; promise me you won't do anything crazy." She pleaded. "Imani, come on, I ━"
"Promise me." She asserted, looking deep into his eyes to let him know she was serious. "Okay. I promise." Jace nodded.
"But that wasn't all I called you over to talk about," Jace spoke, making Imani furrow her eyebrow. "What else is on your mind?" Imani asked, hoping it would be anything that related to their relationship. "A little birdie told me that your birthday is in two days," Jace exclaimed as Imani sighed, rolling her eyes. "Phil." She groaned. "If I knew you guys becoming close meant that all my business would be put out there, I wouldn't have advocated for it as much as I did."
Jace waved her off before getting back on topic, "So, what are you doing for your birthday?" He inquired. "Uhm, nothing really. We usually just go to IHop for breakfast, look through old photo albums, T and Ike give me a gift, and then we go on with our day." Imani shrugged. "That's kinda sad," Jace replied, making the girl chuckle. "No, it's not. It was my idea. I don't want anything extreme."
"Well, that changes this year." He stated while Imani groaned. "Tomorrow after practice, me, you, Musa, Phil, and Drew, we're going to the skating rink," Jace told her, causing the girl to nod. "I am pretty tough at skating." She gave in. "Good, because I already told the guys."
