Wei Wuxian had always been a troublemaker, a mischievous and carefree boy who refused to conform to the rules of the cultivation world after he gave his core to his brother and all the shit Wen Chow put him through. But as the powerful and feared Yiling Patriarch, he never expected that one of his actions would have such grave consequences.
It was during the Bloodbath of Nightless City, a chaotic and violent event that shook the entire cultivation world. Wei Wuxian was in the midst of it all, wreaking havoc and seeking revenge on those Wen Dogs who had wronged him. But amidst the chaos, he found himself cornered and in danger.
Just when he thought it was all over, a familiar figure appeared before him. Lan Wangji, the man he had both admired and clashed with, came to his rescue, he fought off the attacking cultivators and lifted Wei Wuxian to safety.
But their moment of victory was short-lived when thirty-three elders from the Gusu Lan Clan appeared, determined to stop Lan Wangji's interference. They were angered by his disobedience and disrespect towards their clan, and they were not afraid to make an example out of him.
(After that)
Wei Wuxian could only watch in horror as Lan Wangji was surrounded and whipped mercilessly, enduring thirty-three strikes, one for each elder he hurt. The sound of the whip against his skin echoed in Wei Wuxian's ears, and he felt a pang of guilt in his heart. It was his actions that had led to this punishment, and he couldn't help but blame himself for it.
As Lan Wangji's punishment came to an end, he collapsed onto the ground, bloodied and bruised. He was bedridden for several years, his once strong and stoic figure reduced to one of weakness and pain. And Wei Wuxian could do nothing but watch from a distance, his heart heavy with the weight of guilt and regret.
It wasn't until Lan Wangji was finally able to walk again that Wei Wuxian mustered up the courage to face him. He couldn't bear to face the man he had unintentionally hurt, but he knew he had to make things right.
With a heavy heart, Wei Wuxian approached Lan Wangji, who was sitting in the Jingshi where they had spent so many days together. Their eyes met, and Wei Wuxian saw the pain and sorrow hidden behind Lan Wangji's calm and stoic facade.
'I-I'm sorry, Lan Zhan!,' Wei Wuxian muttered, his voice shaking with emotion. 'It's all my fault. If I hadn't caused all that chaos, you wouldn't have been punished.'
Lan Wangji's eyes softened as he looked at Wei Wuxian. 'No, it was my decision to save you,' he replied, his voice gentle but firm. 'I have no regrets.'
Wei Wuxian felt tears welling up in his eyes as he realized just how much Lan Wangji had sacrificed for him. He had endured such a cruel punishment, and yet he showed no anger or resentment towards Wei Wuxian.
With tears streaming down his face, Wei Wuxian fell into Lan Wangji's arms, apologizing over and over again. But instead of being angry or upset, Lan Wangji hugged him back and whispered words of comfort and forgiveness.
'You have nothing to apologize for, Wei Ying,i am here for you and nothing will ever change that,' Lan Wangji said softly. And in that moment, Wei Wuxian knew that their bond, forged through their shared experiences of life and death, would always remain unbreakable.
From that day on, their friendship only grew stronger and soon into love, and there was a newfound understanding and trust between them. Wei Wuxian had learned a valuable lesson about the consequences of his actions, and Lan Wangji had shown him forgiveness and compassion.
Together, they would face whatever challenges came their way, side by side, as friends then as lovers until the end. And the memory of Lan Wangji's sacrifice and forgiveness would forever be etched in Wei Wuxian's heart, a constant reminder of the true meaning of there old friendship and there now love for each other.
