It's been a week since my accident. Jase and I are friends now and if I'm having a bad day or not doing well I talk to him. I've made a promise to him and myself that no matter what I will never do anything to hurt myself again ever. Jayden moved to Florida for college since he's eighteen now he can do whatever he wants. I still live with my mom but I don't have to take care of her anymore she realized that she was putting way too much stress on me and Jayden after my accident so she got a job and she cooks and cleans and is back to normal. I work after school now at the same restaurant and I have weekends off. Jase and I go to the gym together on Saturdays and work out. "Jase can you spot me?" I ask "Sure" he stands beside me as I do my deadlifts. He puts his hand on my stomach to help me keep tension there but my cheeks get hot I hope he doesn't notice me blushing. Once I've figured it out he removes his hand and I am tempted to do it wrong so he has to help me but I don't. I want jase to touch me I like when he puts his hand on my stomach to help me or when he touches my shoulder or back randomly or to tell me something I like when he holds my hand and shows me how to do something. I've been daydreaming for to long I've stopped lifting my weight and I'm just standing here holding it on the ground. "Are you okay" jase says and puts his hand on my back. My skin feels like it's on fire and I love it "Yea" I say picking up the weight he removes his hand and I feel deflated in a way. We finish our workout and he drives me home. "That was a good workout" I say as he walks me to the door "Yep" he answers I hug him goodbye and go inside. Mom is still at work so it's just me. Let's face it I never got over Jase. I still love him he loves me too but more as a friend I think. I love him though I never stopped and now that we're hanging out again I'm realizing it more and more my crush on him grows every time we hang out. I should tell him. He would understand. Maybe he feels the same way. I'm daydreaming here Jase left me he doesn't love me anymore he sees me as a friend practically his little sister I don't want that at all. I don't want Jase to see me as a sister I want him to see me as well....you know a girlfriend. Okay seriously stop! I've been standing in the doorway for fifteen minutes now and I need to move on this is the second time today I've been daydreaming about Jase for way too long. I take my stuff upstairs and shower when I'm done I put on yoga pants and a crop top and read my book while my hair dries.
Ding dong I hear the doorbell and rush downstairs. I open the door and find Jase standing on my porch. "Hey" he says "Hi, what are you doing here?" "You left your phone in my car" he says handing me my phone "Oh thanks" I say and take it from him "do you wanna come in?" "Sorry I have plans with my friends you can come if you want" Why is he inviting me to hang out with him and his friends? He doesn't have to. "You sure?" I ask "Yea, come on" "Okay let me change real quick" I run upstairs and grab the first thing I see which is blue jeans and a black shirt I grab my shoes and race back downstairs. "Ready!" I say with a little too much enthusiasm. Jase laughs and we walk to his car. We arrive at the skate park. Oh great! I have no idea how to skateboard. There's a group of boys standing by the fence one of them notices us and waves us over. "Dude, who's your girlfriend?" One of the boys asks pointing at me "This is Alyssa" jase says "Alyssa this is Austin" "Nice to meet you, I'm not his girlfriend by the way" "Cool that means you can be mine" Austin laughs. Jase's jaw clenches and the muscles in his arm are tense. "Nah who would date someone like her she's to uptight and not that pretty" one of the boys says rolling his eyes and waving me off. "I'm not uptight" I say crossing my arms "Yea you are Luke talked about it all the time when you were dating" "Leave her alone Leo" Jase growls "Luke? He said I was 'uptight'?" I ask "Yep all the time constantly complaining about how you wouldn't sleep with him or even make out with him oh boy when you did that thing with Jase he lost his mind" the boy—Leo says shaking his head. "I didn't do anything with Jase" I whisper "Didn't he like—" "Shut up" Jase's voice is hard as he cuts Leo off. Leo stares at him in shock. "Protective, you sure you're not his girlfriend sweet pea?" Leo says with a grin "Can we just ride our skateboards" Jase growls "Maybe little miss innocent here wants to ride something else" Leo says winking at me Jase loses it he swings at Leo but Austin stops him before he hurts him. "Let go of me Austin" Jase growls "Calm down" Austin says trying to restrain Jase "Did you hear what he said to her?" Jase yells through clenched teeth "I know but you need to calm down" Austin says "Jase" I whisper stepping closer to him he looks at me and his glare softens "calm down please" I slowly put my hand on his bicep "it's okay" I whisper stepping closer till I'm only a few inches away. "I won't hurt you" Jase whispers "I know" I answer. I hug him he doesn't hug me back at first but then he calms down a little and wraps his arms around me pulling me against his chest. I feel the tension leave his body his breathing slows I listen to his heart beat the steady pounding in his chest. "It's okay" I whisper loud enough that only he can hear me "Let's go" he says and we walk back to his car. He doesn't bother to say goodbye to his friends he just gets in the car and we leave. "Why were you scared of me?" Jase whispers "I wasn't" "You approached me like I was a wild animal, did you think I would hurt you?" He mumbles "No I just didn't know if you wanted me to touch you or if you thought it was my fault and were mad at me" I whisper "I'm not mad at you" "I know" I mumble "I love you Alyssa" Jase says speaking up a little "I love you too Jase" I answer "No I really love you not just as a friend" he says looking at me for a second before he focuses on the road again. He loves me.
