8 - Mistletoes, gifts, and turmoil

Luke was stressed. Christmas is in three days and he still doesn't have a gift for Zander. Well, he'd gotten him tons of smaller gifts like ties and socks and little trinkets, but nothing with true meaning.

Zander always made Luke feel special on Christmas by getting him gifts that came from the heart. Luke wanted to make him feel the same way.

"Hailey, I still don't know what the hell I'm gonna do." Luke said, leaning against his locker with anxiety evident on his face.

"Just get him something expensive Luke. It's not worth stressing over" Hailey said, wrapping her scarf around Jakes neck.

"Yeah, that's what I did this year for Hails. She loved it, right princess?" Jake said, taking his girlfriends hand into his own.

She nodded. "Yeah, he got me a new guitar with my name carved into the neck."

"But see, that's a meaningful gift!" Luke exclaimed, his hands fidgety. "He always paints me these beautiful pictures. Last year it was the park where we used to play together. And the year before it was where we used to meet for school every day. They're just always so special and I just get him clothes and random stuff."

"Well, I think that's still meaningful. It shows how well you know him."

"Well I want to make him something. But I can't paint, or knit, or sew, or do pottery or whatever, and I'm horrible with my words, and, I just don't know."

"Luke, honey, you'll be fine." Hailey said, fixing the collar of Jake's jacket. "Now let's get going home. Zander should be here any second."

"Alright." Replied the drummer, sliding on his Jacket and scarf.

"Yo! Sorry for keeping you waiting guys. I needed to grab this painting from Mrs. Browns room." Zander said, approaching the trio.

"Ooh! A painting?? Can I see it?" Luke said, turning his head towards the drummer as he rummaged through his locker.

"Not until Christmas silly." Zander said, softly kissing his boyfriends cheek. "Now let's get home. I don't wanna be here anymore."

Luke blushed. Zander made him another painting. And he still didn't have anything special to give Zander.

"Right! I'm so glad it's Christmas break" Jake said.

"Let's go Lukey" Zander said, offering his hand to his boyfriend. Luke always thought it was funny when Zander called him Lukey. It was something he'd always done.

"Ugh, you guys are cringe." Hailey said, starting their walk home.

"It's just a joke, bitch." Replied the pianist.

"Whatever nerds!"

(Next day)

Luke had two days. Two days to magically come up with some special idea. It had been stuck on his mind all night and all morning.

He had plans to see Zander later today, so hopefully he could stop stressing for at least a little bit.

He heard his phone buzz. He picked it up, smiling as he saw his favorite contact.

Zander: Goodmorning
Zander: can we give each other gifts tonight? My parents got you something that they wanna give tn since they won't see u again til after Christmas
Zander: and I'm very excited to give u your gifts
Luke: good morning honeyyy!!
Luke: yes we can do them today
Luke: I can't wait to see
