As the sun slowly sets, you reminisce about all the times you had with Ink. It was strange to think you would have emotions for a skeleton, one who couldn't even feel such emotions either. People would tell you about how cute you two were, and all he would do was stare at them.
Never would disagree.
He was the silent type, not talking much unless he felt like he had something to add or just wanted to. He was quiet with you, he would make you feel as if you were speaking to a wall. But the way he would stare with nothing in those pupils of his drew you in. It seemed like he was zoned out half the time, but when you would call his name he would react immediately.
Ink was strange, and he always seemed to be busy with so many different things at one time. As if you were the least of his problems, and just there for the slightest bit of entertainment. So you shouldn't have been surprised when he rejected you.
Nonetheless, the time wasted on planning a beautiful ceremony to ask him out was not worth it. Something more productive is what you could've been doing. He would never do the same for you, and you should've known that.
As you watched the moon slowly rise up in the sky, glimmering and illuminating the trees with its soft glow, it reminded you of something. Something you tried to lock away into your mind, something that reminded you of Ink. It would be better to just try and remember Ink as a fragment of your imagination. But it would be hard to forget somebody as unique and unforgettable as Ink is.
Even if you wish it all never happened, and you wish you had spared yourself the embarrassment. You can't forget how the moon shined on the two of you as you confessed all the bottled up feelings you had. Just for him to reject you, and leave you there wondering if it was something you had done or just how he felt.
Though, no matter how much you want to just forget and leave it all behind, the way he was around you made you feel like maybe he actually had some type of feeling for you that he kept coming back and seeing you, it couldn't all have been just an act or something.
...
The moon was all the way up in the sky, the way it illuminated everything just made you want to stare at it. But, the moon is never that pretty that you just want to stare at it like it was a million dollars, or like it was the man you wanted. The man who didn't want you.
You could hear slow footsteps approaching you, they were slow and deliberate, as if they came here for a purpose and didn't just stumble upon here. You didn't turn until you hear the steps come to stop, and what you saw was a short skeleton, someone that ignited that memory in your brain you desperately want to forget.
Ink; he was back, back for you. Not for the moon, or the environment. He was here and staring down at your sitting position. Why would he come back? After that rejection he gave you, he had no reason to be here.
"Ink, why are you here?"
You tried to act as if you didn't care, as if the rejection hadn't affected you at all and was just a mere inconvenience that you weren't worried about all that much.He shrugged, as he did to most of the remarks you would tell him. Most of the stuff you would tell him resulted in a shrug from his short skeletal form. But, he then seemed to look down to read something in his scarf, this took him about a minute before he looked back up at you and began to speak.
"I need you."
Ink stated bluntly, as if the weight of those three words would have less of a meaning to you than they did to him. There were two ways he could mean this, either as he needed you for a task, or he needed you for himself, like he wanted you in more ways than one. But you couldn't decipher the true meaning, you would have to go along with what he wanted to find out.You gave him a soft nod, before standing up. Watching as he opened a portal, it reminded you of what you both did before the moment where you confessed. You didn't understand this, you didn't understand how he genuinely seemed unaffected by everything. You knew he was emotionless, and to watch how truly emotionless he was creeped you out. But not enough to push you away from him.
You hesitated for a small second, thinking about why you would do such a thing to go through this portal. But, you also thought about how maybe he did actually want you in the way you wished he did, in the way you wanted him. With that in mind, you slowly entered the portal, with him following behind.
