Adeleine

I stood up from where I was sitting as soon as I heard my mother's footsteps coming towards my study room. Knowing her, she will most likely tell me another one of her evil schemes, or either scold me for not being the perfect daughter she envisioned.

I fixed my posture, and held my head up high not moving an inch to at least look presentable in my mother's presence.

Inside my head, numerous nerves were tingling, my brain cells were struggling to work due to exhaustion these past few months. But right now all I could think about is what my mother wants with me, which is hurting my head even more.

The door made a creek, someone was slowly opening it. The sound of limited edition graff heels tapping the floor, and the sight of those ruby woo eyes staring directly at me with blood lust.

I refuse to believe this is the woman who gave birth to me.

The way she sways her hourglass body left and right when walking, gives people the wrong idea all the time. Her intense facial features makes her look like a villainess, and I wholeheartedly agree that she is pure evil.

"I want you to settle down with someone, Adeleine as the next head of the family" My mother ordered chuckling, trying hard to hide the fact that she just wants to quit and leave all her responsibilities to me.

My eyes grew wide from shock, because this plan of hers came sooner than I expected. I taught of all the possible negotiations I could make with her to avoid getting myself married off to another noble family.

But as I said, knowing my mother, once she made up her mind it'll be difficult to stop her. And as her daughter, I have the right to follow her orders under any circumstances.

"Obedience runs in our family blood. I will gladly find someone you approve of if you give me some time mother" I answered obediently, because that is the only valid response my mother is willing to take.

"Great, as expected from you my precious Adeleine. Of course I'll give you time to find someone you will love for the rest of your life"

When she said "someone I will love", she actually meant someone she'll love. And that revelation is making me sick to my stomach.

Still, I was relieved to hear the satisfaction in her voice, but this conversation isn't over yet. My mother is someone who likes making her demands difficult than it already is, and what's worse is that I have to agree no matter what.

"I have some terms that you and I both have to agree on. Judging from your maturity, I'm sure you know what will exactly happen if one of us rebels against the agreement." My mother warned me. Her ruby woo eyes staring deeply into my soul, the intense pressure swallowing me whole once again.

Despite her selfishness, I nodded.

"Good. Now I'll tell you the first step of your journey, if you wish to continue with your life, then satisfy me with your performance in this mission of yours." My mother added before directly going to the point.

Her conditions were irritating me even more. But all I could do is nod with respect and let her continue.

"I'm going to enroll you into an elite high school, Sane Laurier. You'll eventually find out why with that magnificent brain of yours. Rule that school and show them what an 'elite' truly is, if you fail to trample over them I will not consider you as my daughter. I'm sure you already know what's going to happen next, Adeleine"

She clearly explained with such cruelty in her voice, I clenched my fists,  hard enough to draw blood.

"In within 12 months, I must find my love interest while trampling over the whole school"  I answered.

"That's completely right Adeleine! So if you don't complete this mission before you graduate, there is a chance that I might disown you" My mother concluded with her intense tone, before leaving the room the same way she entered the room, dramatically.

As soon as my mother left the room, my knees finally fell to the ground. I can't believe I managed to survive all these years with someone like her.

With such little strength, I reached for my books to continue my studies, disregarding the fact that I almost died just talking to my mother.

Although I hate to admit it, I'm grateful that my mother considered enrolling me into a real life school. The only problem is she enrolled me for her own satisfaction. And I cannot rebel against the agreement otherwise I'll get the worst consequences.

So, I'll do whatever it takes to rebel against my mother within 12 months.

So troublesome.

(please correct me if there were any mistakes made in this chapter. But do keep in mind this is only my 2nd time publishing a novel, P.S I'm only 12 years old.)
