September Agosto
Trying to get away from those was so easy. Aside from the long and never ending stupid traffic that is also caused by humans who I think have a brain of a dog for not knowing how to fixed their own cause of trouble, we manage to find a place to go to get away from that mess.
And I'm smiling the whole time because damn! That was relaxing. Being chased by a bunch of police while adrenaline and excitement was rushing through my vein is making me feel good through out the moment.
"That... That was good! I didn't know being bad sometimes feels the other way around."
We're at some, I think abandoned house. Dirty clothes are hanging as well as the rusty sheets of steel plastered at the side of the house to serve as the wall.
The roof seems it would fall right before our eyes with just a wind because of its fragility.
"Don't come near it, Heal. It's not that sturdy." I warned him before he could take a step towards it.
"Oh come on, September. Don't judge." I smirk as I heard that voice. A woman in black clothing walked out of the abandoned house. With a black straight hair, sharp black eyes, pointed nose and a red lips, she walked towards us, crossing her arms and smirking at me. Looking at her wearing a black crop top, fitted jeans which complement her long legs and a black leather jacket makes me smile at the back of my mind.
Hindi pa rin nagbabago. She's aging like a fine wine. She gets gorgeous everyday.
"Canary." I said, almost a whisper.
"Long time no see, September."
"I'm surprised that you're still alive." I said, curving up my lips as she stop right in front of me.
"It's not as if we're not the same?" I sigh as I come closer to reach her ears.
"Don't mention anything related to that thing when I'm with him." I whispered, making her raise her eyebrows looking a little amused.
"Are you guys dating?" And Heal, back from his amused to his usual face. Parang laging naka-default ang itsura.
"Are you sane?" I asked back at her, making Heal creased his forehead at me. While Canary beside me tried to stifle her laugh.
"Why are you always asking the obvious, Ember?" Nakataas kilay na Tanong n'ya. At Anong feeling n'ya? Normal s'ya mag isip? I disagree.
"Am I?" I glance at Heal just to see him throwing us a confused look. I bet he's again questioning my complexity and how twisted my mind is and then there's Canary who just worsen the weight of his confusion given that our mind function in sync.
"So, you're not dating?" She asked, still having that teasing smile in her face.
"Yeah, and you're insane, as always." I answered.
"Fvck you." Sinulyapan n'ya si Heal at saka ngumisi.
"Mind telling me his name?"
"Change of heart?"
Well, a little info, Canary doesn't swing both ways, she only swing in one path which is straight to a girls heart. The statement 'She swing both ways.' does not suit the situation she's in. It's not as if women are born to be with men.
"Fvck you, Agosto." She once again rolled her eyes on me then turned her back on us but stop midway then tilted her head a little to look at us over her shoulder.
"Follow me if you don't want the police caught you."
As always, alam n'ya ang nangyari kanina. Not being creepy but she has eyes everywhere.
"Ipasok n'yo pati ang motor." She said with her accent still twisting around her tongue. She's not fluent in Filipino but she knows a lot, except with her accent. She's been like that ever since.
As far as I remember, she grew up in US until she turned 7 and her parents decided to go back here for good.
I met Canary a few years ago and we somehow became close because of I think our similarities. We just clicked but we lost connection when I finally got discharged from that hell after being there for years, suffering from its fire that burns me which I luckily endured for God knows how long.
But this woman right here, seems to be used to the fire that's surrounding us that time. She seems like the fuel that's adding up to the flame.
Seeing her after years of being away from her, I felt somehow relief. I felt bad after leaving her there. I actually want to stay connected to her but things just didn't go as I planned as my family had a problem and it really gotten into me that I forgot about everything even myself.
I'm glad she stayed alive even though the placed we used to stay feels like hell.
"Trying to reminisce things?" I came back from my reverie when Heal pop in front of me. I remained with my stoic face as I shook my head to get the thoughts out of my head.
"You're not going to ask, how is she related to me?" Baka mamaya mag-overthink na 'to. Mabaliw pa.
I yawned as I stretch my arms to my back, waiting for his answer.
"I don't want to stick my nose into someone's business." I smiled at the back of my mind after hearing him utter that. He looks confused but he don't wanna invade my so called life.
"Canary, she's just an acquaintance. Don't mind her." Sambit ko sabay ngisi at naghikab, expecting a rebut from my acquaintance.
"Fvck you, September." Which I successfully got.
"Pass." I shook my head as I glance at Heal. Staring intently in his eyes, trying to read and unfurl what's beneath.
His eyes, it's like a deep ocean where when you stare at it, you'll feel like someone's pulling you down to get what he's thinking, not minding any impediment around.
It's like I'm ready to surmount the formidable hurdles just to know what is inside. His eyes are deep and I can't seem to find where is the end of it.
"She's a friend." I said, heaving a deep breath, feeling drowned after staring at his eyes for a second.
He was about to talk when we heard a bunch of footsteps followed by voices of men.
"Dito 'yun lumusot!"
"Dalian n'yo! Sayang din 'yun!"
"Ang tanga! Babae na nga 'yung nag-da-drive, hindi n'yo pa nahuli."
Heal and I look at each other as we heard voices becoming more clearer.
Mukhang kailangan nila ng pera.
