☾Level 1, Chapter 4: A Boy Named Kou ☽

The day dragged on as I waited for all my boring classes to end. Hour after hour, assignment after assignment, it all felt like it was taking forever. 

After an eternity the day was done, and I was walking out the classroom with my fat backback and a paper in my hand. I yawned, thinking about what Hanako-kun said before he vanished into thin air. "Can I ask you a question?" Is what he said.

I wanted to go home, get some sleep, maybe even catch up on my astronomy homework, but I told myself I would go see Hanako-kun before all of that. I wearily made my way to the girls bathroom, calling Hanako's name.

"Hanako-kun? Where are you?" I said, my voice echoing off the walls of the bathroom. 

Silence.

I sighed and knocked on the third bathroom stall. Before I could get to the 3rd knock, I felt a hand on my shoulder. "I'm here" a familiar voice said. 

"There you are" I said and turned around. Hanako gave me a small smile and rested his hand in his chin. "Yep!" He chirped, looking to the side every once in a while. 

"So, what did you wanna ask me?" I said as I set my backpack on the floor and sat against the wall. Hanako squatted near my level, looking at me with a misty expression before asking "why do you call me Hanako-kun?" He tilted his head slightly and looked down. 

I gave him a confused expression before answering "because you're my friend". "Oh..yea" he looked to the side and it seemed like his face was a mixture of guilt and redness.

"Hey...what's wrong?" I tilted my head and looked at him. 

"Nothing, I-" Hanako-kun was cut off by the sound of the girl's bathroom door bursting open, followed by a boy's voice.

"I'm Kou Minamoto of the Minamoto clan, and I'm going to exorcise you!" A orange-haired boy holding a staff exclaimed as he was looking directly at Hanako-kun. 

What do you do?

𓁹A: Throw your backpack at him

𓁹B: Try to stop him (somehow)

★‼️Error‼️ POV has been switched to 3rd person.★

A: Y/n's reflexes kicked in, and you grabbed the nearest thing around you and threw it at this "Kou Minamoto". You screamed "PERVERT!!" as your fat backpack crashed into the boy, sending him flying to the ground. After a few moments, you realized what you've done. "Oh shit oh shit oh shit" you thought to yourself while rushing over to see the damage you've done. 

Kou was knocked out, his golden staff beside him as he drooled. 

"This is not good.."  Y/n mumbled to herself as students came circling around Kou to see what had happened.

"What happened to him?"

"Is he okay?"

"Why the hell was he peeking in the girls bathroom?"

Voices of students overlapped each other before they were all silenced by a teacher who came into view.

"Damn it" you thought to yourself  as the teacher sent you to the principles office, Hanako-kun floating by you as you walked.

☹︎Oops! The teacher caught you and sent you to the principles office for knocking out a student (unintentionally)!☹︎

𓁹B: You immediately stood in front of Hanako, attempting to protect him. Kou looked flabbergasted for a moment, saying "why are you protecting him!? He's a murderer!".

"What?" You scoffed, thinking he was making it up. "No he isn't-"

"Yes he is!" Kou interrupted you midsentence. "He uses a knife as a weapon! That means that when he was alive he killed someone with it!" Kou shouted, his voice echoing around the girls bathroom. 

You turned and looked at Hanako, who's been quiet this entire time. Guilt painted his entire face as he looked down. "What...?" You mumbled to yourself. "I-it isn't true! Tell him it isn't true, Hanako-kun!" You were getting desperate for the answer you wanted, but deep inside you knew the truth. 

Before Hanako could say a word, Kou swung his staff at him. A clang! rang through the air as Y/n looked and saw that Hanako had deflected the attack with a knife—just like Kou said. 

A million thoughts ran through your head as the 2 boys fought.

"I-it's true..? But Hanako-kun seems so innocent! How could he be a murderer..?"

The sound of Kou being slammed to the ground snapped you out of your trance.

Hanako-kun had him pinned down onto the floor, his knife close to the orange-haired boy's face. Before you could react, Hanako's demeanor changed completely.

"Haha! I win!" He let Kou go and stood up, taking his staff-umbrella in the process.

Kou looked at him confused before realizing that Hanako had taken his staff. "Hey that's min-" 

The sound of Hanako-kun slapping a sticker on the staff cut Kou off. "There! Now nobody can get hurt! This is a dangerous artifact, you know!"

"NOOOOOO!" Kou panicked as he grabbed his precious weapon from Hanako. "THIS RELIC HAS BEEN PASSED ON BY MY FAMILY FOR GENERATIONS!" He exclaimed, frantically trying to peel the seal off. "TAKE IT OFFFF" Kou whined.

"Nope!" Hanako-kun happily cheered as he floated around, his ghost-like orbs following his every move.

"Hey Hanako-kun" you said, getting his attention. "Hm?" He turned to look at you. "What are those orb thingys?" You asked, pointing at one of them, while Kou was crying in the background.

"Oh these?" He said, taking one and putting it in his hand, the orb hovering just above his palm. "These are my Hakujoudai!" He cheerily said as he put it in your hand.

The Hakujoudai hovered in your hand as you pet it softly.
