Kankri opened his eyes slowly and looked around the messy bedroom, his lover hugging him closly as he slept on. He groaned as he pulled his upper half up and shuffled from Cronus's strong hold. A year. It had been a whole year since the incident with the now dead Kurloz. Kankri luckily awoke from his coma and had spent the last year recovering the mental and physical damage the whole thing had caused him, Karkat now living with their grandmother had recovred a lot quicker than Kankri of course. He sighed deeply as he moved himself into the wheelchair positioned next to his bed, his legs had been shattered in at least three places if his mind served him correctly which it probably did not. He spent weeks trying to regain his memories again and once he did he regretted it. Cronus had gotten a job working in a cafe and after asking his dad for some money he was able to buy a house for him and Kankri, he had considered a bungalow but Kankri said he could do just fine and they ended up getting a ramp that lead up the stairs from the back of the kitchen so he did not accidentally go out the front door when coming down them. Kankri looked back at his sleeping partner and smiled warmly, Cronus had been there for him since the start o the madness and had not left him while he was in hospital nor when he got out and needed a lot of helping adjusting to his new lifestyle. He wheeled the chair to the ramp and easily slid down it into the fairly clean kichen. Cronus tried to keep the place as clean as possible but the bedroom was a place for Cronus to distribute his mess easily without his 'Kanny-bear' lecturing him on the mess. The wheelchair bound Kankri wheeled to the fridge and after some looking around settled on some pasta from the night before and pulled out the container. He set it on his lap along with a fork and brought himself into the living room, his now paler red eyes scanned the bookshelf then he moved closer to grab the remote. His tanned hand grasped the slate coloured controler and he faced the TV set switching it on and after some channel surfing settled on the Food Network. He opened the container and started to eat the cold, slimey pasta, it did not seem to bother him in fact one would say he rather enjoyed it. He looked down at the baggy grey shirt that now hung off his thin figure and the dark tarten bottoms that hid his brusied and hurt legs. He chewed the pasta silently, after he got out of the hospital he barley talked to anyone, the odd word was given to Cronus or when he needed to request something but that was it really. He felt no need to talk to anyone anymore, the lose of too many people had hit him hard and he missed his dad too much to actually want to speak. He had suffered many back and neck injuries after the fall not to mention the loss of one kidney, he had a donated one before he was released of course, it was a lengthy three and a half months of him stuck in the hospital but it was worth it. He heard footsteps approach him and two long, muscular arms came down and around his torso as Cronus's scent invaded his nose. "Howv're yah' feelin' Kanny?" He asked with a gruff morning voice that sent chills down Kankri's spine, he nodded slowly indicating he was just fine. Cronus pecked his cheek with a broad smile, "Good chief." He messed up Kankri's floffy brown hair and walked into the kitchen to get his usual morning coffee. Kankri smiled wearily and looked at his empty container, it would be an understatment if he said he loved Cronus, he was the only reason he was still alive. If it was not for the seemingly never ending love Cronus displayed towards him, Kankri would have given up long ago. Cronus helped him practice walking, he helped him take his medication and most of all he treated him like he always had and not any different just because he had a few things that made him stick out compared to others. Cronus walked back in and sat on the couch then patted next to him smiling at Kankri, Kankri looked at him. His black hair that had those little bits of blonde at the front, the peachy skin and his body build all made him look amazing and attractive, not to mention the tattoos on his arms. Kankri moved his chair closer as Cronus sat his cup on the coffee table and his soft dark blue eyes looked into Kankri's dull red ones. He leaned forward, putting his arms under Kankri's armpits and gently lifted him up, setting the smaller male next to him on the couch. "I meant the couch idiot." He chuckled as Kankri smiled wider and let out a small chuckle of his own. Cronus picked up his cup and sipped the beverage lightly as he peaked down at Kankri who was watching the TV intently. Cronus loved his little Kanny-Bear very much and would never let anyone hurt him ever again, and once Kankri was able to walk again Cronus had a plan to make sure Kankri would stay with him for as long as they both shall live.
