Aether considered himself to be a fairly lucky guy for the most part. The majority of his travels in Teyvat went suspiciously smooth, give or take a few disastrous bumps that actually had rather okay endings for the most part. Right now, though, it would be right to assume all his luck may have run dry.
Aether opened his eyes to an eye-stinging white light. He personally thought it should be a crime to wake up to such an eyesore. The blonde-haired traveler got up fairly quick. His eyes remained shut as he gave a few yawns and stretches. After he was ready to grab his travel guide, Paimon, and grab some breakfast, it hit him. The 'white light' was not just a light — it seemed to be the entire room. Aether's amber eyes gained a determined glint as he equipped his sword, and prepared for battle.

...
Nobody came to attack him. There was barely any sound in the room. Aether got rid of his weapon for now. When he did so, it seemingly vaporized into many bits. The first, most logical plan of action that Aether thought of was exploring this mysterious...white void? Aether attempted to take a step forward. He couldn't. He tried again. Still, nothing. It didn't take long for Aether to jump to the conclusion there were invisible barriers in front and behind him. He could go right, left, and up...what about down though? With his curiosity peaked Aether began to stride towards the black line of flooring he was placed on. Well, that was, until a certain 'thing' blocked his path.
A man with dark blue hair with braids in front that turned to lighter shades of blue towards the tips was now in front of him, clearly dazed. It was none other than the very well-known bard, drunk, and archon, Venti. It looked like he was suffering from a hangover of sorts.
The bard groaned and massaged his head a few times slowly turning his attention to Aether. His eyes seemed to light up the minute he saw the familiar face of the traveler.
"Ah, Traveler! It's so good to meet you here! Actually, traveler, where are we?" The bard jumpily said.
His energetic mood seemed to swing a bit as he cautiously looked around the place the pair were stuck in. It wasn't long until he found the barriers to his front and back.
"Yeah, about the question on where we are...." Aether nervously scratched the back of his neck
with an apologetic expression on his face.
"It seems like we're on a big plus.." Venti said.
"I can't see much from past the barriers, but I saw a hint of the black wall to our right going further down...I could also see the continuation of this piece of black flooring continuing past the black wall..." Venti thoughtfully tapped his chin.
While Venti was thinking, Aether had edged closer to his final destination, the end of the black line he was currently standing on. One curious step forward and his entire world flipped literally and figuratively upside down. Aether felt like he was falling upside down before getting forcefully shoved backward. He felt his blood rush up to his head until he gained his footing on the black line again, where his blood flow returned to normal. Aether took a few minutes to process what just happened to him.
"Hey, Venti, did you feel that too..?" Aether asked the bard, which he strangely couldn't find on
the line anymore.
"Feel what, traveler?" Venti asked, clearly confused about what he was asking.
"Say, traveler, where are you..?" The bard looked around for the traveler. This search continued for a few seconds until Venti looked down. There he saw Aether on the opposite side of the line from him. Realization struck Venti once he saw this.
"Say, traveler...do you think...we're perhaps..on the coordinate plane..?" Venti awkwardly asked. In his defense, it did sound like quite the silly thing to ask.
Aether looked up and right, following the voice of Venti. His suggestion now didn't seem as insane. Venti looked like a reflection in a puddle. Aether guessed he looked similar when the bard saw him.
"As crazy as it sounds, I don't doubt your theory..." Aether sighed.
The bard chuckled as he skipped closer to the vertical black line, or the y-axis.
"Since we're on this, I just want to test a few things out~" Venti playfully said.
"Venti--!" Aether called out to the bard in vain as he watched him carelessly walk up the wall.
Once Venti had secured himself on the y-axis, he let out a short, high-pitched chuckle. Aether had a less than amused face on currently. The traveler often wondered how Venti was an archon and how he survived for so long. It was more disturbing than it was impressive. Aether put a hand on his chin and closed his eyes. A determined look was painted on his face.
"You've been silent for a while, traveler!" Venti playfully grinned, even though his back was facing Aether.
To fix the problem of not being able to talk face-to-face with his only companion in this situation was not to go back onto the x-axis, or turn his body around, but to try and bend himself backward to look at him. The result of this was quite obvious. Venti fell. Instead of folding back onto the y-axis completely, he roughly thumped onto..air?
"Hehe, hey, traveler, look at this!" The bard called out.
With broken focus, Aether, opened his eyes, annoyed. This annoyance soon turned into one of shock and wonder. Venti was seemingly lying on air. The only thing that touched the y-axis was the bard's feet. Aether sighed at the bard's childish grin after he probably saw the quick-expression change he had to the situation.
"Let's just...try and find an escape..." Aether sighed then facepalmed. How did they even get into this situation, he wondered...
