Violet hurried home, stashing her bag in her room before darting to her grandma's flat. A grin lit up her face, "I smell something cooking!" she exclaimed. Celeste chuckled, "It's your favorite."

"Yes!" Violet cheered. She approached Phoenix, who was quietly doing homework. Ruffling his hair, she kissed her grandma on the cheek. "He's upset," Celeste whispered. Violet furrowed her brows, "Why?"

Celeste shrugged, "Won't tell me." Violet walked over to Phoenix, asking, "What did you do today?" He sighed, "Went to school."

"Yeah? What'd you do at school?" she crouched down next to him. "I just played by myself. Not many people wanna be my friend," he confessed. Violet frowned, "That's okay; sometimes you don't need friends. Family matters more."

He nodded, "I just don't think I know how to talk to people." Violet reassured him, "That's completely fine. You know who is your friend, though?"

"Who?"

"Me, Grandma, Daisy, Ma, Parker, Benny, Isaac, Lee, Alex, Nathan, Jordan, Danny, Will. I met a new friend today, her name's Jackie. She's so nice; you'll love her." Violet reassured him, "Is Cole still my friend? He was my best friend, but I don't see him much anymore." Phoenix asked. Violet forced a smile, "How about after school tomorrow, I take you over there? You can see Cole, meet Jackie, and all the others. They miss you too; Isaac's been saying how much he does." Phoenix agreed, "Okay!"

"Give me a high five?" she held up her hand. He complied before rushing inside, yelling for his mom about visiting friends tomorrow. Violet smiled. Celeste squinted at her, "Tell me, why haven't we seen much of Cole?" Violet shrugged, taking a deep breath, "No clue, must be his girlfriend Erin." She sipped juice nonchalantly. Celeste hummed, "I thought you were his girlfriend?"

Violet almost choked, "W-What?"

"Come on, I'm old, not blind," Celeste teased. Violet shook her head, "We were never—"

"Save it for your mother," Celeste laughed. Violet's face turned red, "I'm gonna go do some homework."

"Have fun with that."

Violet perched on her bed, fresh from a shower, immersed in music through her earphones. Contemplating whether to message Cole, she finally sighed, unlocking her phone after the Paige incident.

Violet: Hey, will you be home tomorrow afternoon? Phoenix wants to see you.

Cole, startled by the text, responded promptly.

Cole: Yeah, definitely. I miss him.

Anxiously biting her nails, Violet continued.

Violet: Okay, thanks. We'll swing by after school. He's missed you.
