POV Aymie
Pulling my hood on, I slowly look out the alleyway. My tail stiffens as a car passes. Shivering from the cold, I start walking on the sidewalk. Numb fingers and a shiver makes me try to find a warm place to stay for the night. A tall building stands in front of me. It's a hybrid center with the lights still on. I crouch and peek through a window, trying to see inside. The door to the center opens next to me. My head snaps toward the person and we have a staring contest.
"Wha," the male starts before I back up and run away, "Wait!"
I don't wait, I run instead. My toes are numb as my bare feet slam against the ground. My escape is over when I trip over a rock and fall against the concrete. The night sky taunts me as I try to stand, my legs giving up. Ice cold tears fall from my eyes as footsteps approach quickly.
"Hey," the male from earlier stops next to me, "Are you alright? Come on, let's get you inside."
I growl as he reaches towards me. He doesn't stop, instead he lifts me up into his arms. Trying to fight the man, I turn and bite his arm. He flinches but doesn't put me down. Keeping my mouth on his arm, the man walks to the center. He opens the door and someone sighs.
"You left three minutes ago," a feminine voice says.
"Sorry Ma'am," the male apologizes, "I found this one outside in the cold. She ran away and I chased her. Her body is shivering so violently, I figured it would be best to bring her here. Poor girl must be freezing."
Growling, I look at the woman whom the man talks to. My teeth are still in the man's arm. The woman gasps as she reaches out for me.
"Let's get her in a room," she speaks as I remove my mouth from the man's arm.
I snap my jaws at the approaching hands and the woman pulls them to her chest, "Feisty."
The woman chuckles at the word of the man. I'm growling the entire time they speak. The humans walk into a room, the man placing me on a dog bed of some sort. They back away slowly as I sniff the bed. This belongs to someone else! Growling, I jump off the pet bed and run to the opposite corner of the room. The two humans watch as I curl up in the corner.
"Odd," the woman whispers, "Normally everyone likes the beds."
A large male black panther steps into the room, his paws barely making a sound. The other feline sniffs the bed, huffing at the new scent. He looks at the humans who haven't stop whispering in my direction.
"What should we do about her," the human man asks the woman.
"I'm not sure," she sighs as she looks at the male panther, "Maybe Asher can help her feel comfortable."
The male panther looks at me before slowly stalking over. Panicking, I give him a warning growl. He just growls back louder as he keeps getting closer. Looking around for an escape, my breathing speeds up as the panther stops right in front of me.
"Asher," the woman speaks as the panther looks at her, "Please help her feel welcome, she will be staying her for a while."
Asher, the panther, nods at the woman before looking back at me. He sits down, stopping me from moving away. The woman smiles before leaving with the other human. Two piles of clothes are left on a small table. The panther stands on his paws before stalking over to the bed. Slowly, he becomes human like and puts on some clothes.
"C'mon," he looks at me, "You need warm clothes, and some food."
The last word has my ears send my hood flying back. My ears are larger than any normal snow leopards. Asher's eyes widen at them until a small whine escapes my mouth.
"Come here," he sighs as I stay still.
Slowly standing, I quietly move closer to the male. Looking at the doors, I'm tempted to run away. Asher holds out a pile of clothes and shoves them in my arms.
"Get dressed," he says and turns around.
Quickly changing into the clothes he gave me, I set my old ones on the table. Asher turns around as the doors creak open. I stare into his eyes as I stand like a deer in headlights. He takes a step and I bolt out the room and down the hall. The Panther gives chase, closing in quickly. He lifts me up by my hips and I panic. Struggling in his grasp, I try to push his arms away. Tears fall fast as the male carries me back into the room. He closes the doors before setting me on the bed.
"Stay," he commands as I try to stand, "I don't want to chase you again."
Looking up at him with wide eyes, I shake violently. He quirks a brow before gathering some fish onto a plate. Placing the plate in front of me, he sits down on a chair.
"Eat," he speaks up as I look at the doors again, "If you eat then I will let you out."
Slowly nodding my head, I pick up a piece of the fish. Sniffing it to make sure it's clean, I nibble on it. It tastes so good that I end up eating half of the fish before pausing. My stomach groans as I think of eating another bite. Shaking my head, I pull my knees into my chest.
"Full," Asher asks when I don't eat anymore.
Looking at him, I turn my attention to the doors. Asher clears his throat as he sighs. The male stands from his chair before walking to the doors. He opens one before looking at me.
"I said I would let you out. Now follow me," he speaks as I stand carefully.
I follow behind him as he leads me down the hall. He opens a door and the two humans look at us. The woman walks over, causing me to step back a bit.
"Shouldn't you both be sleeping," she asks as Asher walks past her.
"I told her that if she eats, I would let her out," he answers the woman, "and she ate. You know I keep my promises."
"We can't exactly let her go," the male human sighs while Asher stops in his tracks.
Asher turns to look at me as I quickly go to the doors that lead outside, "Why not?"
"She needs somewhere safe to stay," the woman explains, "By the looks of it, she is a stray. It's going to snow tonight so she should stay here."
I try to pull the door open but a hand stops me. I look up to see the human man holding onto my wrist. Growling at the man doesn't affect him. The human pulls me away from the door and back into the room with the dog bed.
"Sorry kid," Asher says as he sits back in the chair, "Try to get some sleep, we'll try again tomorrow."A Month Later
I'm walking through the halls, Asher fidgeting next to me.
"You sure you will be okay," he asks as he looks at me.
I nod, trying to reassure the panther.
"I really wanted to keep you safe," he sighs as Ashley, the human, walks up to us.
"Come on Asher," she smiles, "It's time for you to go."
I frown at the human lady as she pulls Asher with her. Watching as my only friend is forced into a cage and taken away. I'll never see him again. Tears fall from my eyes as his meet mine. Waving sadly, Asher is gone.
"It's alright," Ashley speaks with false concern, "He wasn't meant to be on this world anyway. Neither are you."
I look down at my feet, a frown on my face. Nodding softly, I walk back to mine and Asher's room. It's just my room now I guess. Looking at the old mattress, I lay down. Tears fall freely as I hold in my sobs.
"Wake up," Ashley nearly shouts, "You're leaving."
Sitting up quickly, tears build up in my eyes. Ashley grabs my wrist and pulls me into the lobby. She wears a smile as she lets go of me.
"Here she is," she says with kindness to a group of human men, "Be careful, she can be mean. Don't let her outside, at all. She likes to run away."
Keeping my head down, I try to hold in my tears. Being led towards a large vehicle, I'm placed in a seat in the far back. One man sits on each side of me, trapping me in the vehicle. Once all the men are in, the car starts driving.
"So," one of the men speak up after a while, "What's your name?"
I don't answer, "I bet it's something pretty!"
Looking next to me is a young man whom has fluffy brown hair. He smiles at me and I think of a rabbit. I turn to look back at my hands. Fear courses through my veins as he pouts.
"I'm Taehyung," one of the men in front of me cheers.
"Oh! I'm Jimin," a shorter one joins in.
"I'm Seokjin," the one driving says, "And the one next to me is Namjoon. Yoongi is the one sleeping next to you."
"You're my hope! I'm your hope! I'm J-Hope! Or just call me Heosok, or even Hobi," the one with a big smile says.
"And I'm Jungkook," the bunny smiler says.
Keeping my head bowed, I do nothing and say nothing. Hearing a sigh, someone's head lands on my shoulder. Tensing up, I refuse to move.
"Why is she so tense," Jimin asks curiously.
"I think it's cause Yoongi's head fell on her shoulder," Jungkook answers, "Maybe she is uncomfortable. You can push him off you know?"
Closing my eyes, I slowly shake my head. My fear grows astoundingly when Taehyung reaches over to shove Yoongi off of me.
"What the hell," Yoongi groans as he wakes up.
"You were sleeping on," Jimin speaks before slowly quieting, "What is your name?"
"Idiots," Yoongi sighs, "Her name is Aymie. Didn't you read the papers. They said that's what her friend called her."
"Oh," Jimin pouts, "Okay."
Namjoon speaks up, "You can lift your head, we won't hurt you. We may seem like we will, but we're all just of losers that became like a family. No one here is possible of hurting anyone, except Yoongi. Just don't wake him up."
"Which is why I'm going back to sleep," Yoongi says before closing his eyes.
This man is so similar to Asher, I might cry. I can feel the tears build up in my eyes as I hold them back. The vehicle stops and everyone gets out, me included. Flinching at the amount of people, I hide behind Yoongi. He reminds me of Asher and that brings me slight comfort. Everyone watches as I cower, I can feel their eyes judging me. A small whine leaves my mouth when Yoongi steps away.
"She likes him at least," the others pout at Seokjin's words.
Following the men, more like Yoongi, I'm led into a large apartment.
