CHAPTER 10

Suspicious:

Valery's POV

"Shit, my core is killing me." I muttered, but I had to hurry. I hated being late. Damn it!

Once I was ready, I rushed out of my dorm and headed to the university.

As I walked down the hallway of my building, it felt like someone was watching my every move. I quickened my pace, anxiety gnawing at me.

When I reached my classroom, Daisy and Kairos were staring at me with worried expressions. They immediately approached me.

"Valery? Are you okay?" Kairos asked, concern etched on his face.

"Uh-huh, yes, I'm fine. Thanks for asking, Kai." I replied.

"You look nervous, Valery. Tell us what happened to you. " Daisy said.

"Hays, well, while I was in the hallway of our building, it felt like someone was watching me." I admitted, feeling a little pressured.

"What? Who was it?" Daisy asked, bewildered.

"Well, maybe it was someone from a different building. You know how they are, Daisy. They're always plotting something against us, so they're probably watching us." Kairos explained to his sister.

"Why would they attack our building? What's going on in this school?" I asked them, confused.

They looked at each other, exchanging a silent signal. It was like they were deciding whether or not to tell me the truth.

"Come on, Val, you're just new here, so this might seem normal to you. But once you've been here for a month, everything will change. You might think this is just a normal school, but trust me, it's not. This is no ordinary university. " Kairos explained.

His words only made me want to know the truth even more.

"What other secrets is this university hiding? All I know is that there's a lot of fighting and violence here. Is there something else that most people don't know about 'Higher Diplomatic Cybernetic Petersburg University'?" I wondered, gazing out the window, a mix of curiosity and apprehension swirling in my mind.

Our professor arrived, momentarily distracting me from my thoughts. I focused on the lesson, but the questions lingered.

The bell rang at 11:30 AM, signaling recess.

"Valery, come with us," Daisy said, Kairos trailing behind her.

"Hmm, sure. Let me just gather my things." I replied.

"Let me help you, Val." Kairos offered.

I couldn't refuse his help.

Once we were ready, we rushed out of the classroom and headed to the cafeteria for lunch.

Kairos and I found a table while Daisy ordered our food.

We ordered two milkteas for the girls and coffee for Kairos, along with a slice of cake each.

After lunch, we decided to skip class for a while since we had a three-hour break. We headed to the rooftop to get some fresh air.

As we reached the rooftop, we spotted a familiar figure-a man wearing a black mask. It was the same man I had seen during the commotion in our building.

He sensed our presence and turned towards us. I caught his attention.

"You look familiar to me." he said in a British accent.

I looked back at him, confused. I had only seen him twice. I didn't know what he looked like behind the mask.

"But this is the second time I've seen you," I said calmly, hoping he wouldn't notice my nervousness.

"Yes, but I think I saw you somewhere else. " He stared intensely at me, as if trying to piece together where he'd seen me before. "tss, nevermind," he said and walked away, disappearing into the highest floor of the building.

He was so weird...

We stood there for a few seconds, speechless. Even Kairos and Daisy seemed confused by what they'd witnessed.

"You really don't know him, or recognize him?" Daisy asked.
"Nope" I replied, while lookinbat her with confusedly.

"He's King Dk."

"King DK? What kind of name is that? It's so weird," I said, incredulous.

"Your voice is so loud, valery! Someone might hear you! Don't you know him?" Kairos asked, looking at me with concern. I shook my head. "Well, he's a mafia king's son. He's the soon-to-be mafia king, and even if you're a girl, he can kill you easily if he wants to, in any way he wants," Kairos explained.

"David Kyle, or King DK, as they call him, is the most ruthless mafia leader in this university," Daisy added.

What the fuck? So, there are mafia leaders here, and this guy is the leader of them all?

"So, if I were you, Valery, I'd make sure you know everyone you could potentially clash with here in the university. It's dangerous if you run into someone powerful," Kairos warned.

"Remember, Val, people here are bloodthirsty. Revenge is a game of death here, so try not to get involved in any trouble," Daisy advised.

I could only nod in response. The concern they showed for me confirmed that they were true friends.

But I couldn't shake the unsettling information about King DK and the university. I had thought it was just a place filled with fights and chaos, but the truth was far darker. I couldn't help but worry about my brothers, since we were studying in different buildings.

This university is hell!

We need to escape!
