When you're looking at me, l've never felt so alive and free

It was already late afternoon when Kai arrived back home. He decided to buy some groceries on the way, wanting to cook something for him and Soobin. He unlocked the door of his unit silently, in case that the other was still sleeping. He peeked inside the bedroom and he saw how Soobin was indeed still sleeping, completely wrapped up in a blanket, cuddling with one of his plushies. Kai needed to hold himself back from not laughing at this sign, this was surely one of the most adorable things he had seen in a long time. But he was kinda worried. Soobin must have been really exhausted and he probably endured a lot over the past days which caused him to sleep through the whole day. But either way he decided to let him sleep for now, so he went to the kitchen to unpack the groceries he bought.

Kai wouldn't call himself a good cook, but good enough for some simple things, besides that it was one of his favorite things to do. He loved food, and when you don't have someone to cook for you, you just need to learn it by yourself, that was his motto. Kai decided to make stir fried rice. He took some leftover rice from yesterday out of the fridge, and started to cut some scallions. It was a fast dish, so he kinda hoped that Soobin would wake up soon, still not wanting to wake him up. After some minutes had passed and Kai was almost finished preparing the food, he decided to take another peek into his bedroom.

Soobin woke up from a delicious smell, but decided to stay in bed, cuddling with one plushie which he found especially fluffy. It was too comfortable, he wanted to stay here forever, and that thought creeped the shit out of him, in the end they are still strangers. He heard footsteps coming closer, so he slightly peeked out from under the blanket which was covering him up completely, and the plushie imperium around him. And there he was standing in the door frame, looking at him with deer-like eyes and pure adoration. He couldn't help the smile creeping up on his lips as soon as their eyes met.

„Good morning." Kai chuckled in an ironic way, and couldn't help but smile.

Soobin snorted at that, and there it was again the tingling feeling spreading through his whole body like electricity.

„I hope you slept well." Kai asked him curiously as he came closer to the bed, continually smiling.

Soobin nodded, his eyes glistening and sparkling from pure happiness. „I did, thank you again." He mumbled under the blanket which was slightly covering up his mouth.

„My pleasure." Kai softly said as his hand reached out for Soobin's head, ruffling his hair in a playful but yet so loving way.

Soobin felt his heart almost exploding at it, how casually Kai touched him, how comfortable Kai felt around him, as if they had known each other for ages. But be loved it, he loved every single touch of Kai, he was craving it like he never did for anything else. Although he knew almost nothing about Kai, although he was so god damn interested in him, still, he was scared to ask him questions, scared to get to know him better. Maybe he was scared of rejection, scared of losing him. He didn't know.

„Let's eat something huh? I cooked for us." Kai smiled as he sat down on the bed end, his gaze still fixed on Soobin. „And don't worry, my plushies won't run away." He laughed out loud, as he remembered how Soobin was holding onto one of them tightly before.

Soobin laughed awkwardly, slightly blushing and feeling like hiding. But he pushed himself up instead, crawling to the bed end, facing Kai directly and looking him straight in the eyes. „Are you sure that they are not coming to life at night? They might run away." Soobin ironically questioned, as one corner of his mouth raised and ended up in a smirk. The only thing where he was sure about being good in, playing off awkward situations.

„Oh?" Kai played along, moving his head closer to Soobin, making it possible to count his eyelashes if he wanted to. „You should find out then if they are coming to life at night." He mocked in a playful way, and couldn't help the grin on his lips.
