"This girl is one in a lifetime", my doctor told a colleague. "You will not see a case as rare as this one". I didn't understood at that age how true that comment was. I was born with hydrocephalus, a condition with no cure. There is treatment to help the patient have a better lifestyle, but again, no cure. My parents decided not to proceed with the surgery. A couple of years later, miraculously the condition was gone.
You might think that was it, but life had more challenges for me to face. Aside from constant follow-up appointments to see how I was developing, my life seemed to be normal, until I turned 12 years old. I know...you might think...puberty. But trust me when I tell you, at some point I wished it was just puberty.
