There was more to the family aside from the blood purity.

Not that Sirius could see that considering his need to run as far from Mother as possible without looking back at those he would be leaving behind.

Syrina Black, that was my new name, who was the younger twin of Sirius Black.

The one who took on the backlash from our parents in my siblings place.

Mainly that of our mother's.

"Do not make us look like a fool," warned Mother, grey eyes narrowed with distaste as she flicked them over my form. "Doing so will only bring punishment, do you understand?"

Anything I did was never enough for my parents, more so my harpy of a mother, and it was a place that Sirius also remained in their eyes as well. But unlike my dear twin I wasn't planning on leaving as soon as I could, no, not when Regulus needed us.

He was still so young and to leave him here by himself was wrong.

Especially since I knew what I'd be leaving him to face alone.

"Yes," I answered with a small demure dip of my head while keeping my eyes focused more upon her nose then her eyes, "I will not disappoint."

"Good," sniffed Mother before motioning me toward the fireplace as we would use the floo system to get to Lestrange Manor. "Lestrange Manor."

Using the floo system always left me a bit dizzy even if I made sure to land solidly upon my feet with grace while moving forward, even as Mother flicked the ash from our clothes.

Lord Lestrange was already awaiting us with both of his sons.

Rodolphus was almost six years older than me while Rabastan was only five years older than me.

Making them only a year apart in age, something that caused many to mistake them for twins.

One of things that I truly despised was how most pure-bloods made marriage contracts between their children at a young age, around seven to be exact.

Even more so with the male usually being a good few years older than the female child.

Not that the marriage contract wouldn't be in my favor.

The Most Ancient and Most Noble House of Black always got what they want in the end.

"Good evening," I stated softly with a proper curtsy to Lord Lestrange. "Thank you for allowing us into your home, Lord Lestrange."

"Proper manners," praised Lord Lestrange as he turned to face my mother, my father was currently speaking with the previous Lord Black about a few things so didn't come this time around, who nodded. "Welcome into my home, blessed be."

We easily returned the oath before following him further into the house and towards what was likely his office with how large the room was. I could also sense a few of the wards around the room that felt like many different generations of Lords to the Lestrange House.

Being able to sense magic was a secret I kept from everyone.

"Rodolphus, show Miss Black around while I speak with Lady Black concerning the last adjustments to the contract."

It wasn't the first time I had met Rodolphus, not when his family attended each gala held by the Dark Sect, and even still there was something about him that just put one on edge.

He only gave a dip of his own head towards his father before offering me his arm.

"It surprised us," mused Rodolphus as we left the office and moved slowly back downstairs towards the back door, "seeing as we had expected only Cygnus to offer one of his daughter's hand in marriage."
