walking home at twelve in the morning in the sketchiest part of your neighbourhood, alone, where multiple girls your age had been kidnapped recently, was probably not the best thing.

you shivered, wishing you'd at least brought a jacket to protect yourself from the harsh wind.

"fuck," you cursed, bringing your phone out of your pocket and fumbling, dropping it in the process.

you crouched down, reaching for your phone and automatically dropping it again when someone pushed you from behind.

you yelped and sprawled awkwardly across the pavement, hands flat against the ground.

"ow," you mumbled, pushing yourself up to face the culprit. "what was that f-"

you yelped when someone grabbed your arm, harshly swinging you up an slamming you into the wall, head smacking loudly on the bricks of the allyway, dropping your bag.

"fuck." you swore again, looking at your attackers face, wishing you hadn't.

his face was twisted in a gruesome sneer, eyes a cold, cold blue.

his blonde hair was flat against his forehead, face tinted with a lip ring.

he was gorgeous, the asshole.

"oh, ashton's gonna be happy with you." he smirked, fingernails digging into your forearms, breaking skin.

"please," your voice cracked. "please, just let me go."

the blonde boy chuckled darkly, leaning in close. "no." he whispered, laughing loudly.

"please. i've got a cat. i gotta get back to my cat, man."

he looked as if he was about to run his mouth again, but someone beat him to the punch.

"i believe the girl asked you to let her go, lucas."

the boys sneer immediately fell to the sound of the others voice.

he looked like what he probably was. a scared, vulnerable innocent little boy caught up with the wrong people.

"you know michael?" he asked in a hushed voice.

no, you did not.

you nodded.

the boy, lucas, released you, your arm and head throbbing.

he turned and sprinted away quickly, or attempted to. this michael boy was standing right behind him.

"hello, lukey."

and his fist collided with lucas' face.

you stared as lucas' body crumpled to the floor, then blinked up at michael.

"hello, angel." he shrugged off his jacket, wrapping it snugly around your shoulders, giving you a little pat on the head.

he turned to luke's crumpled body and sighed, running a hand through his hair. "this fucking kid," he muttered, and crouched down to sling lucas over his shoulder.

he wrapped his free arm around you, guiding you quickly down the street, leaving you with no choice but to follow.

he led you up the pathway to what you assumed was his house.

"welcome," he grunted with the weight of lucas, and stumbled nearly falling. "hey, the key's in my back pocket. grab it?"

shakily, you poked a hand out of his jacket and tucked it into his back pocket, grabbing the key and unlocking the door.

"calum?" michael called into the somewhat vacant house.

"in here, mikey."

michael led you into the living room, where an asian looking boy sat, eating nutella out of the jar.

he looked up, eyes widening, dropping the spoon in the jar.

"shit," he cursed and sprung off the couch, giving michael room to drape lucas' lanky body on the cushions.

"what happened?" calum demanded, placing a hand on lucas' forehead.

"i punched him."

"why?!"

"he's working with ashton again."

calum stayed silent, pouting his lips a bit.

"damn it." his attention turned towards you. "why, hello. who the hell are you?"

"that's y/n," michael informed. "y/n, this is calum."

"h-how do you know my name?" you stutter.

michael tapped his chest. "you're wearing a name tag." he turned to calum. "i'm gonna need you to take her home."

calum nodded and grabbed his coat, walking towards you. panic flooded through you. "wait, what? i-i barely know him, wh-"

michael was next to you in a matter of seconds, tucking a string of hair behind your ear. "don't worry, you can trust him." suddenly, he grinned and shuffled through one of his desk drawers. "here, if anyone bothers you, tell them we're engaged." he took your hand, slipping a wedding ring on it.

"but-"

"shut up." michael said softly, grabbing your face and kissing you shortly. "now go." he said, shoving you lightly. "and get some ice on that!"

shocked, you allowed calum to lead you out of the house and into his car.

you vaguely remember telling calum your address, and he began driving.

"i'll have you know, i met michael less than an hour and a half ago, and we're already engaged." you felt the need to explain, giggling lightly.

"love at first sight?" calum laughed.

you shrugged, smiling a bit.

"don't worry. i have a feeling this won't be the last you two see each other."
