I cannot even begin to explain the effect that this story had on my life. It is SO incredibly slow burn that when it was first recommended to me, I gave it one look and thought I'd never be able to get through it. I am someone who loves slow burn to an extent— but Cadence is 979,903 words long. That is a shit ton of words, it only around 100k words off being as long as the ENTIRE seven Harry Potter books together.

I marked it for later and then an edit of it popped up on my TikTok fyp. It was during the holidays, I had the time on my hands to get through it, and there were only positive comments under that edit so I was like, why not? I might as well try and see if it interests me.

And Bro, "interests me" doesn't even begin to explain my relationship with this fic. It is GOD SENT. There is a reason it is the first on this recommendation list. I loved the fic so much it actually hurts. It was SO beautiful. Everything about it was perfect. It is genuinely better than almost any other book I've ever read irl and I mean that. It's even in my bio, that's how much I worship it.

It is about the marauders going to a prestigious boarding school and later on becoming a rock band!! I don't want to spoil it and I'm about to give you the description bc I'm sure it will do a better job of explaining than me lol

If you liked Remus' characterization in All The Young Dudes, you will most probably enjoy this characterization too. It's actually brilliant, and so so consistent that it felt like he was real and not just a figment of the authors imagination 😭😭 he has a lot of issues though. It's super angsty, but there's also so many well written moments of the Marauders just being themselves. SO many pranks. So many laughs (haha did you get the Narry reference? You can take the girl out of the One Direction fandom but you can't take One Direction out of the girl). Lily, Marlene, Dorcas and Mary are very involved as well, which I love so much, AND PETER HAS AN ICON OF A SISTER THAT OWNS THE ENTIRE STORY but I'll leave you to discover that for yourself.

Also you WILL fall in love with Tomny and Tonya. Thank me later. (Seriously these OCs are my real Roman Empire. If you ever see me saying anything else is my Roman Empire, slap me. I'm lying. I think about them countless times a day.)

I have kissed the ass out of this fic and my description still doesn't do it justice. Just read it. It might be the best thing you've ever read. I have been reading fanfiction since I was eleven and I'm eighteen now. I've NEVER liked anything more than I like Cadence. Seriously. My love for it is unmatched. I could go on forever about it but I'll save you the hassle and get to the point.

He looked at Sirius sharply, and for once, matched his grin. "Yeah."
"Maybe that's my excuse then," Sirius said. "I cause a bit of chaos now, and maybe one day, it'll turn into rock and roll."

After losing his mother at age eleven, Remus has spent the better part of the last four years bouncing from school to school or else running around London and pretending as though he wasn't the kind of well-bred boy his father brought him up to be. Now, with his chances all run out, Remus is sent to Hawkings Independent School as a last-ditch effort to clean up his act. There he meets the very people who will set up the rest of his life, and is forced to confront the pieces of himself he'd long thought had been lost.
