The pain had subsided, leaving me weak and exhausted. As I lay in my mother's embrace, I struggled to catch my breath, my body trembling from the ordeal. Carmen, my adoptive mother, held me tenderly, her eyes filled with concern and determination.

"June, my dear, are you feeling better?" she asked softly, her hands gently stroking my hair.

I nodded weakly, my voice still shaky. "Yeah, the pain... it just suddenly stopped. I don't understand what happened."

Carmen's brows furrowed as she looked at me intently. "We need to figure this out, June. Something isn't right, and we can't just ignore it. Let me call the doctor and see if they can fit you in as soon as possible."

I nodded again, grateful for her care and determination. "Thank you, Mom. I'm just... I'm just scared. I've never experienced anything like this before."

Carmen sighed softly, her eyes filled with both worry and resolve. "I know, mi hijo. But we'll get through this together. We'll find the answers, and we won't stop until we do."

As she made the call to the doctor, I couldn't help but feel a sense of fear and uncertainty. What had caused the intense pain? Was it a one-time occurrence, or would it happen again? The questions swirled in my mind, and I longed for answers and reassurance.

Within a few hours, we were sitting in the doctor's office, waiting anxiously for my turn. The sterile scent of the clinic filled the air, making me feel even more uneasy. I clutched onto Carmen's hand, finding solace in her presence.

Finally, the door opened, and the doctor, a middle-aged man with kind eyes, entered the room. He greeted us with a warm smile, his voice gentle and reassuring.

"Good afternoon, June and Carmen. I understand you've been experiencing some unusual pain, June. Can you please describe the symptoms to me?"

I took a deep breath, trying to find the words to explain what I had gone through. "It was like a burning sensation all over my body. It was intense and agonizing. And then, just as suddenly as it started, it stopped. I don't know what caused it or why."

The doctor listened attentively, furrowing his brows in deep thought. After a moment, he began conducting a thorough examination, checking my vitals and asking a series of questions.

"I'm going to run some tests, June, to see if we can pinpoint the cause of your pain," he explained. "

I nodded, feeling a mix of relief and apprehension. The possibility of finding answers was comforting, but the unknown still lingered, casting a shadow over my thoughts.

What was happening to me?

I was just doing fine until the episode with the card ( again unsure if that happened ) then poof I was burning up in bed.

So many worrying thoughts going through my head until I felt my adoptive mother wrap her arm around me bring me in for an embrace along with rubbing my back.

Mother soothed," Everything will be alright June." She rubbed my back easing my concerns about the burning sensation I was experiencing.

The doctor came back into the room and he held the results in his hand making the mother-son duo hold their breath.

The doctor looked at us with relief.

"June, Carmen, the tests revealed something unexpected," he began. "It appears the burning sensation was temporary and you might have been overworking yourself June so it is advised to take some rest once in a while.

ed in relief, grateful that there didn't seem to be anything serious or long-term. I let out a sigh, the tension slowly leaving my body.

The doctor continued, "It's important to listen to your body, June. Overworking yourself can lead to physical and emotional stress, which can manifest in various ways, including the intense pain you experience."

Carmen nodded, her expression one of concern mixed with understanding. "We'll make sure he takes breaks and prioritizes self-care, Doctor. Thank you for your guidance."

The doctor smiled warmly, reassurance evident in his eyes. "That's good to hear, Carmen. June, remember to slow down when your body tells you to. Rest, take breaks, and don't hesitate to reach out for support when you're feeling overwhelmed."

I nodded, feeling a sense of gratitude towards the doctor's advice. "Thank you, Doctor. I'll make sure to take better care of myself moving forward."

As we left the doctor's office, I felt a weight lift off my shoulders. Though the mystery of the intense pain had been solved, there was still a lesson to be learned. I needed to prioritize self-care and listen to my body's signals before it reached a breaking point.

Carmen squeezed my hand, a reassuring smile on her face. "Well, mi hijo, it seems like we have a plan moving forward. Let's make sure you take those breaks, manage your stress levels, and create a healthy balance in your life."

I nodded, a sense of determination settling within me. "You're right, Mom. I need to find that balance and not let myself get overwhelmed. I'll take your advice to heart."

We walked back home, the weight of uncertainty replaced by a newfound resolve. With Carmen by my side, I knew I had the support and love to navigate any challenges that came my way.

We made our to the parking lot where we searched for Carmen's car and we looked around in the treacherous parking lot until Carmen nudged me as she pointed in a direction causing my gaze to see Carmen's car which was a dark gray sedan parked towards the back. We hurried over and climbed inside, the familiar scent of my favorite air freshener filling the car. As Carmen started the engine, the car hummed to life, and I let out a sigh of relief.

"Home sweet home," Carmen said with a hint of exhaustion in her voice. "Let's get you settled, June, and make sure you rest up."

I nodded in agreement, feeling a mix of exhaustion and gratitude for Carmen's unwavering support. She had been my rock throughout this ordeal, and I couldn't be more thankful for her presence in my life.

Once we arrived home, Carmen led me to my room, guiding me to the cozy haven I had carefully curated over the years. The soft glow of fairy lights illuminated the space, casting a warm and comforting ambiance.

As I settled onto my bed, Carmen sat down beside me, her eyes filled with love and concern. "June, I want you to take it easy. Rest, recharge, and give yourself the time and space to heal."

I nodded, my body sinking into the mattress as weariness washed over me. "I will, Mom. Thank you for taking care of me."

Carmen smiled gently, brushing a strand of hair away from my face. "Always, mi hijo. Sleep well, and remember that I'm just a call away if you need anything."

I closed my eyes, feeling a sense of peace wash over me. The day had been filled with uncertainty and fear, but now, with the comfort of my bed and Carmen's love enveloping me, I knew I was in safe hands.
