Goosebumps covered her whole body. She was standing in the middle of nowhere. How did she come here? She didn't know. No one could answer either. The empty and dark road led to an unknown destination that stood in front of her dreadful eyes.
Walking along with the darkness she tried to see and find something helpful to go back to her home and if not home then at least get out of this creepy place. In April when the weather was hot she was shivering as if it was late December. Curling her arms around herself she rubbed her arms while walking on that empty road.
A cold breeze blew up her long and dark hair. Long and dark: just like this road.
After a few minutes, she reached a point where the road was ending. There was nothing in front of her but an old crumbling wall blocking the road. She tried her best to find a way out but couldn't when a little path appeared on her left side. It was an old iron gate covered with rust.
Gulping down the fear she stepped towards the gate, it showed a metallic lock hence she found no way to enter. Looking everywhere she found no one. Turning back she decided to go back to the place where her journey had started but before she could walk back a voice stopped her. The door was opened while making a cracking sound which was enough to break down the silence of the environment. This was the second sound she heard, the first was the roars of harsh wind which was still playing with her long and dark hair.
She entered into the unknown place covered by darkness. With the same cracking sound, the gate was shut down making her jump at her place. Turning back she found nothing but a wall in the place of that gate. What was happening? She was clueless. Left with no choice she walked ahead to find a way out and finally, she found a ray of light as well as hope in that darkness. A smile crawled to her lips and she walked towards the small flame-like light visible at a faraway junction of this bizarre place but stopped by a voice. It was the third sound she heard. The jingle sound of the Payal (anklets) and bangles. Stopping to step ahead she looked here and there, and the sound stopped.
Gulping hard on the fear growing inside her she walked ahead. The jingle sound picked up where it left off, she looked around stopping in the way, and the sound stopped. The little flame-like light was visible at faraway, unable to understand anything she put the fear aside and started running and realised that the jingling sound was coming from her body only. Stopping in the middle of nowhere she looked at herself, surprisingly she was wearing a bridal attire. When did she wear that attire? She didn't know. She was in her night suit before entering that rusted gate.
Looking here and there she tried to find out what place was but the darkness of the sky wasn't helping her, she could see many rectangular boxes-like things present everywhere. What were those things? Going close to one she tried to focus on it, somehow her eyes settled to see everything in the darkness and her body was covered with goosebumps one more time.
A scream left her mouth. They were coffins. Everywhere!
Ignoring everything she ran towards the only source of light in this darkness. Seems, it was nearer than estimated. The dark hair mingled with the darkness of the night while flying in the cold air.
"Help... Help... " Seeing the cottage near herself she yelled. The door of the cottage was always open, hence welcoming. Without any delay, she walked inside holding a fearful heart.
The scene inside the cottage was another story. A half-naked man whose body was covered with ash and hair was uncut for a long time. There was smoke everywhere as if something odd was burned. The man was throwing something sitting in the fire while chanting something unusual that she hadn't heard ever. The fire was the only source that brought light to this dark place, this was the same light that pulled her here.
"Help me," she muttered, looking towards this man whose eyes were closed and whose face was looking horrible. He opened his eyes and a scream left her mouth. There was no white part in that, only black, she turned to run away but the door was blocked.
"You are mine." the man stood up from his place, his skinny body looked like a skeleton with skin.
She tried to run but where could she go now? "You are mine."
"Stay away."
"You are mine."
"Aaaaaaaaaaaaa..." she screamed as loud as she could and fell on the floor as the creepy man pushed her hard. She tried to get up but her eyes closed down and her head started feeling heavy. She could listen to only one voice echoing everywhere. "You are mine." within a few seconds the voice slowed down and she felt as if her soul entered back her frame gradually. She opened her eyes slowly. There was darkness around her nothing else but this time a peaceful one.
Her eyes settled down in the partially dark room and her heart started to beat a bit normally. She looked at the plain white ceiling of her room, maybe it was looking beautiful for the first time because she had witnessed many horrible things in the past few nights in deep slumber. Turning her side she smiled a little after witnessing the most beautiful thing to happen to her. Her husband! They got married only a few days ago.
"Are you up?" she whispered but got no response, which was a response itself. Shifting near him she curled her arm around his muscular frame and hid her face in his broad chest. She discovered this safe place to hide herself from those nightmares. Closing her eyes she inhaled his fragrance, all those burning smells of that room scared her for a moment but then she bravely fought that fear and dug her face into his chest. An arm curled around her waist which brought a shy smile to her lips, she didn't open her eyes just felt peaceful in his closeness. For the next ten minutes, she only heard his heartbeat playing a slow rhythm of love which started to push her towards a peaceful slumber, all her worries, fears, and nightmares started vanishing in the thin air. Her husband turned his side in deep slumber and she curled her arm around to hug him from the back, resting her dead on her back she was also about to sleep when something triggered her. Removing her hand from her husband's back she placed it on her waist.
Whose arm was that?
Who was hugging her if her husband's back was facing her?
She touched that arm which felt just like a skeleton and a whisper blew a string of her hair "You are mine."
