Backstory

Y/n was left behind in this world, by her family, the few friends she had, the town she lived in. Everything turned to hell when her younger brother died. Her parents were devastated. When it happened y/n had to take over basically all the chores and cooking as her parents were too depressed to do anything anymore. They had hoped a miracle would happen but it didn't. Since both her parents stopped working, money was extremely tight, the only money they had gotten being from those who pitied their situation which all went towards groceries. Due to the fact that even with the pity money they couldn't afford enough money, y/n often skipped meals which had resulted in her being frail (this is something that you can later imagine different further on probably) but since she usually went to get groceries herself from a young age, she was decently strong.

A few years down the line after her brother's passing y/n was now about 12, her parents eventually ended up dying from grief but since many had by now thought the family was doing better. People from the town thought y/n had poisoned her parents. Why would she suddenly do that? There was no evidence against her but since she was the only one living, people assumed, she was kicked from the village, expected to either fight for her life or die since she was now a "murderer". However they still provided her with little food and water so that "the gods wouldn't punish them for leaving a child to die" was their excuse. On the first night, she heard a lot of rustling, unknown to her that there were hungry demons about, she managed to make it a little farther before a demon lunged at her, pinning her to the ground and about to kill her before its head fell off and she finally screamed only to get her mouth covered by an older gentleman, he told her to stay quiet or else she'd alert more demons, finding out his name was Sakonji Urokodaki and that his job was to slay demons.

Timeskip

Once Mister Urokodaki felt y/n had learned enough about demons and what they were capable of, he started teaching her to weild a sword, she was horrible at it and it took her a while to be good enough to go into final selection, once she had passed final selection with some others she was now around the age of 16. She returned home to Mister Urokodaki, almost crying at the thought she had to leave once she got her sword because he'd become like a father to her in the years she'd been staying with him but nonetheless once she got her new sword and first mission she made sure to give him a big hug before leaving, fighting the sadness within at the thought that if she ever were to see him again, he may no longer be alive.

For a while her missions went pretty smooth but eventually she unfortunately got badly injured, not realizing how strong the demon was.. the last thing she remembered was a woman with long black hair in a pretty haori and what looked to be a butterfly in her hair reassuring her that she'd be okay and that they'd take care of her.. after that she passed out.
