it was raining. drew was on his way home from school, and he forgot to bring his umbrella. just great. but no matter. drew had much bigger concerns. his mask was slipping.

before anyone noticed, he quickly adjusted it and continued walking like nothing happened. he forced himself to keep the fake smile all the way.

he waved at the bright blue labrador retriever sitting outside on the neighbor's lawn. it never moved and he had no clue why. he thought it was a fake dog at first, then he saw the fur was far too real. he settled with the theory that it was taxidermied or something.

as he walked home, he made sure to keep the illusion going the whole 15 minute walk home.

he couldn't let the facade end. not here. not now.

and especially not in front of the neighbors.

a small, barely audible *ping* noise went off, and drew pulled out his phone. it was a text from his friend jake. he clicked on the notification and what he saw made his stomach drop.

your face looked really weird today...almost like it wasn't even *your* face...im probably just seeing things lolz

drew switched off his phone and shoved it back into his pocket. he resumed walking, only this time, he went faster.

if jake nearly found out drew's secret...then it's only a matter of time before it gets to everyone else...

and by then, it would be game over.

drew ensures that his mask is on tight and starts to run home instead of walk.
