-They are both five years old
・・・
It was a warm spring day. The sky was blue, the birds were singing, and the air was clear. In a home near the suburbs, there were two restless five year old twins who needed something to do.
They knew that something was happening in the house next door, and they were both eager to find out.
"Nii-san! What's going on next-door?" the younger twin asked. "Why would I know?" the elder responded harshly. "Just- go ask mom or something.
"Alright!" the younger responded happily before running off to find their mother.
After a little while, he returned and told his brother the news.
"Guess what! We're getting new neighbors next-door!" he said excitedly.
"New neighbors?" the older twin asked. "Yep!" the younger responded.
"Boys! Come here! We're going to greet our new neighbors!" the twins ran over to their mother, excited to meet their new neighbors.
The three went over to the house next-door. They saw a moving truck as well as two young boys with flame-colored hair.
A woman with long black hair and red eyes exited the house and grabbed some boxes to bring into the house. Soon enough, one of the boys saw the twins and their mother approaching their new house.
"Hello!" the elder of the two boys said. "Hi!" Muichiro greeted. Muichiro and Yuichiro ran over to them, excited to meet their new neighbors.
Their new neighbors met the twins halfway through the yard, saving the twins some work.
The younger of the two hid behind his older brother. He seemed to be very shy, a contrast to his brother, who seemed to be thrilled to meet his new neighbors.
"Hello!" the older greeted, "It's a pleasure to meet the two of you! I am Kyojuro Rengoku and this is my little brother, Senjuro! What are your names?"
Muichiro, being the more extroverted of the two, introduced both him and his brother. "It's nice to meet you! I'm Muichiro Tokito and this is my brother, Yuichiro!"
Upon seeing how kind Muichiro was, Senjuro peeked out from behind his elder brother. Him and Yuichiro locked eyes for a second, before he waved at the twins.
Both Muichiro and Yuichiro waved back at him. The four got to know each other a bit more and played some games together.
Yuichiro and Senjuro got along well. Which is surprising since they're polar opposites. Though, I guess opposites do attract.
Muichiro and Kyojuro also got along. Not as well as Yuichiro and Senjuro did, but still pretty well.
The four spent the entire afternoon together. Apparently, Senjuro and Kyojuro's parents had split up due to their father drinking too much, so they moved here.
The Rengoku's had learned that the twins had a younger brother by three years, named Kotetsu, though he was sleeping.
They also discovered that Senjuro was the same age as the twins, and would be going to the same school as them.
It was already August, so school would be starting soon. A few weeks passed, and they played together every day.
School was to start, and the twins were getting eating breakfast. "Are you excited, Nii-chan?" Muichiro asked, practically beaming with excitement.
"A little," he replied. "I'm not really looking forward to lessons, but at least you and Senjuro will be there."
"Yeah, but maybe we can make new friends!" "I don't need any new friends. Senjuro is enough."
Muichiro sighed and finished eating. He was very excited to meet new friends and have lessons. Him and his brother were opposites in almost everything. The only thing they had in common where there appearances, family, and extremes similar names, as well as a shared birthday.
Their personalities were also opposites. Muichiro being outgoing and extroverted, as well as kind and caring. While Yuichiro was a bit introverted and came off as cold to people he met.
He was really only nice to Senjuro. Muichiro thought it was strange that his brother could be nicer to a friend he knew for only a couple weeks, than to his own brother that he knew his whole life!
Anyway, their mother gave Muichiro and Yuichiro their backpacks and went to get their younger brother, Kotetsu.
Once she got Kotetsu, the four went out to their car. The twin's mother strapped them into their car seats, before strapping their little brother into his own car seat.
Once she finished that, their mother got into the driver's seat and put in the key. She turned the key and started the car. She pulled out of the driveway and started driving to their new school.
After the seven minute drive, the four arrived at Muichiro and Yuichiro's new school. Their mother took them into the school, and they talked to their teacher for a bit.
They had some free time to meet other students and get to know the room before circle time.
After saying goodbye to their mother, the twins went off into the room. Yuichiro immediate went to look for Senjuro, who arrived a few minutes prior to the twin's arrival.
Yuichiro and Senjuro found a puzzle that they wanted to build, so that's what they did for the remainder of the free time. When Yuichiro would look over to his brother, Muichiro would be drawing with a boy with red hair and a scar on his (very large) forehead.
The teacher soon called everyone to the rug for circle time. Everyone picked a colored circle on the rug to sit on. Muichiro was on a white circle, the boy he was with was on a dark red circle. Yuichiro found a black circle to sit on and Senjuro was on a yellow one.
Their teacher made them go around in a circle and introduce themselves to the rest of the class. They were to tell their name, something fun they did over the summer, and a fun thing they liked to do(a hobby).
Everyone did as the teacher told them, and Yuichiro found out that the boy Muichiro was talking with was named Tanjiro. He seemed nice, but Yuichiro also found him annoying.
For the rest of the day, they read stories, practiced writing, and started learning some sight words. It was fun, though Yuichiro would have had preferred to spend the day playing with Senjuro. At least Senjuro was at the school with him, it made things more bearable.
Dismissal came, and everyone was tired and eager to go home. Senjuro's mother was kind enough to pick up the twins as well as Senjuro for the twin's mom.
Muichiro bid farewell to Tanjiro and went home with Yuichiro and Senjuro. The entire way home, they kept telling Senjuro's mom about their school day and how fun it was.
They were dropped off at home. Muichiro immediately went inside, but Yuichiro decided to stay with Senjuro for a little while. They played some games before Yuichiro was called in for dinner.
Thank goodness for their old neighbors to move, or Yuichiro and Senjuro would have never met. The twins would be bored everyday with nothing to do. Senjuro would still be living with his father...
It just wouldn't have been good. But in the end, all that matter is that Senjuro lives next to them now. Not what could have happened. "Live in the present and don't dwell on what might have happened in the past, for it will do you no good." (-the author at 11 pm)
