It was Ashima's Haldi function today and I was here having a talk with Rudra, who is Ashima's cousin. He lived with Ashima's parents for few years and was five years senior to us. Other than Ashima's parents, he was the only person with whom I can talk with without worrying much.

My dear wife was enjoying much, as I could see from here. She was looking pretty, like really pretty in her yellow lehanga and white crop top. My breath got stuck when I saw her first thing in the morning getting ready in her elaborated jewellery.

"I can't believe you both got married at such a short notice. Although, Ashima always said that you will.", Rudra laughed making me amused.

It was kind of clear who we want to marry from the very start. Only the mishap in between caused problems.

I took a sip of the mango juice in my glass, "I couldn't believe it too when I was engaged to marry her.."

"Why? You both were best friends. Everybody saw it. You both were destined to be together."

"Something untoward happened...you know...", Unlike people of my age, he just nodded not probing for further information.

"Whatever happened, but know that marriage is a really powerful association. I am telling this from experience. This can solve all the unwanted problems if you be dedicated enough."

I was quietly registering his words when a loud voice shrieked behind me, "Bihaaaannn!!!!!"

I turned shocked to see who it was. And indeed it was someone to get more shocked about. It was Smiley.

"Smiley...", I could only manage to barely whisper when he tackled me in a hug.

Thankfully, I did spend a few hours in the gym because he was on the heavier side. And I managed to save myself from the embarassment of falling down.

"Oh my god! Oh my god!! Bihan!!"

He held me so tight that I felt I would squeeze out of my mouth all the breakfast I had right now.

We gave everybody quite a spectacle because they were looking at us amused.

"Hey Smiley...", I squeaked out returning his hug.

After a good minute, he left me, "I did not think I'd see you here today!!! Oh my God! Ashima finally did something good in her life....and wait! Where's your Adu??"

I looked down a little embarrassed because he was openly calling her 'my Adu' like he always did. It so happened that even though I usually called her Adu, I avoided it in front of our school or college friends because she threatened to kill me if I do so. Smiley once heard me and since then, he's been continuing to address her so. I do not want to remember the punishment I endured after she heard him call her that.

"She's here somewhere...", I mumbled a little scathed after his bear hug.

He scanned the whole room before his eyes fell on Adya, who was carefully coming towards me.

Before he could do and tackle her in the similar hug, I went towards her and held her securely. What if she dies of suffocation.
She looked at me with a questioning gaze but I only smiled a little, "Smiley is here."

Soon after, he was standing before us and looking at us, wiggling his eyebrows.

"We are married.", I said knowing he's looking at my arms around her and her all decked up as a married woman.

"I knew it!! I said this so many years ago!", He grinned wide, "You both were too into each other even without knowing."

I smiled at his words. Yes, he always said this. He was our shipper even when there was nothing to ship about.
