Alyssa and I went to go get ice cream just the two of us. We kind of just ditched the rest of the group, but it's okay. We'll find them later.

We sit on a park bench underneath a bunch of trees, eating our ice cream. The shade is nice after being in the sun for a few hours.

"So did you know that Nate and I are like, a thing?" Alyssa asks. "What," I say, shockingly. "And you didn't tell me?" "Yeah, we both just decided to stop bullshitting and just told each other we liked each other, " she says. "Wow, I had no idea," I say.

"How long have you guys been a thing? " I ask. "Only two weeks. " takes a bite of her ice cream and smiles. I'm surprised she never told me any of this. "But don't tell anyone. We aren't exactly public yet." she says. "Oh! Of course! Why would I," I laugh. "I don't know," she shrugs.

We sit there eating our ice cream in silence for a few minutes.

"So what about you? Anyone you're interested in," she asks. "Not really," I say. "I'm just waiting for it to happen. Last time I forced it and It just got into a huge mess, " I add. "Yeah, that can happen." she sighs.

I've only had one boyfriend, but I didn't love him and he didn't love me. He ended up cheating with my friend and now I don't talk to either of them. There was so much drama between his friends and I. They got mad at me for breaking up with him, yet he was the one that cheated.

I see the rest of the group walking up to us. "Hey. You found us," I say. "Yeah you guys left," Tyson says. "We were gonna say something, but we knew you'd follow us," I tease. "What's wrong with me," Tyson defends.

Alyssa's phone starts to ring. "What's up, mom," she says, putting her phone to her ear. "Ok," she says. "Yep. Bye." She hangs up her phone. "My mom wants me home to watch my little brother. She said she's going out golfing with my dad." "Well that sucks. Text me later," I say. "Yeah for sure. I'll see you guys tomorrow," she says, getting on her bike.

"Sucks that she has to babysit her brother all the time. Do her parents not understand that she has a life, too," Nate says. "I guess not," Jake replies.

"Hey," Bri says, parking her bike beside me. "Welcome back," I ask. "Thank you, thank you. I had cereal and watched Spongebob," she says. "Damn, I missed it," Jake says. "Yeah I wanted to watch it, so I did," she replies. "Fine then I'll watch without you," he said. "Fine by me," Bri shrugged.

"Alyssa just left," I say. "Oh, how come?" Bri asks. "Babysitting," I say. "mmh of course," she says.

I look over to see the sun is starting to set in this beautiful peachy colour. It makes me wish I had my phone on me to take a picture, but I forgot it at home.

"We should climb those containers over there," Bri says. She points to two big shipping containers across the street.

"Last one there has to buy us all slurpees," Jake says, running to the container. I run as fast as I can. I try to grasp a metal loop on the top, but I can't. Jake has made it on top and I watch Ezra make it up with no effort. I try to pull myself up but it still doesn't work. I've got no upper body strength. Ezra offers his hand down to me and I grab it, gratefully. He grabs onto my hand and pulls me up.

"Thanks," I say, brushing off the imaginary dirt on my shorts. "No problem," He smiles at me. I stand up and watch Jodie, Nate, Hazel try to make their way up.
