"Mirella!" My best friend Kylie calls.

I rush over to her. All summer, the only communication we got was vintage postcards. Kylie went to a summer camp in the middle of nowhere. She was only allowed to send postcards or letters to people back home. It made no sense to me. Why would you use postcards made of paper if the only reason you were using postcards were to save the trees?? Kylie didn't get it either.

We embraced each other in a warm hug. "I've missed you so much!" she says.

"Same here," I say. "I can't believe we're juniors this year."

Her camp bus rolls away, free of passengers. We walk down the street to my house.

"I'm a little scared to see Mom, I dunno if she's still mad at me." Kylie shudders. "She didn't even write back this summer."

"Don't worry, Kylie. She came over to talk to my mom about how much she was missing you." I say. "She's probably at my house right now."

"Oh my gosh, you're right." Kylie faces me. "Why was I even worried."

We arrive at my house. My little brother, Austin, is riding his bike. "Oh, uh, hi Kylie."

Of course. Austin has the biggest crush on Kylie, even though he's only 10. I shove him playfully. "Oh wow, you got your training wheels off." she says to him.

"I've had them off since I was like five!" Austin exclaims. I roll my eyes. "C'mon Kylie, let's go inside."
