Harry and Willow, who hadn't had breakfast, leapt to their feet, but Ron's ears went pink again, and he muttered that he'd brought sandwiches. Willow joined Harry out into the corridor.

Willow had the small sack of money her aunt had hastily put in her robe while boarding the train, and Harry had pockets rattling with gold and silver. Harry wanted Mars Bar, and Willow wanted the rainbow ice cream she had with her aunt in Diagon Alley, but the woman didn't have either. What she did have were Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans, Drooble's Best Blowing Gum, Chocolate Frogs, Pumpkin Pasties, Cauldron Cakes, Licorice Wands, and a number of other strange things both of them had never seen in their life. Not wanting to miss anything, they got some of everything and paid the woman half each.

Ron stared as they brought their haul all back into the compartment and tipped it onto the empty space beside him, and Harry took his seat beside the window.

"Hungry, are you?"

"Starving," said Harry, taking a large bite of a pumpkin pasty.

"Didn't have breakfast, " Willow added, unwrapping a chocolate frog.

Ron had taken out a lumpy package and unwrapped it. There were four sandwiches inside. He pulled one of them apart and said, "She always forgets I don't like corned beef."

Harry and Willow exchanged looks between them.

"Swap you for one of these," said Harry, holding up a pasty. "Go on —"

"You don't want this, it's all dry," said Ron. "She hasn't got much time," he added quickly, "you know, with five of us."

"Go on, have a pasty," said Harry, who looked genuinely happy to share his sweets with Ron.

Willow urged, "Ron, try these liquorice wands", handing a packet to Ron, who took it a bit hesitantly. Soon, the sandwiches lay forgotten. Sitting there with these two boys, eating their way through all the pastries, cakes, and candies, was a nice feeling.

Harry wanted to know about the chocolate frogs and if they were real, looking at a pack suspiciously. Ron explained how the chocolate frogs were more famous for the cards they got from them; they collected the cards, and Ron had about five hundred, and Willow had a meagre sixty; her aunt rarely got her sweets from Diagon Alley, mostly just on her birthdays. Harry got Dumbledore's card and was surprised when Dumbledore's portrait disappeared. Willow explained to Harry that the wizards' portrait could move, unlike the Muggle photographs that stayed in place.

Ron got Morgana in his card, which he gave to Harry and told him to start collecting. Soon, Harry had not only Dumbledore and Morgana but also Hengist of Woodcroft, Alberic Grunnion, Circe, Paracelsus, and Merlin. Willow got Newt Scamander, Allberic Grunion(inventor of dung bomb), Artemisia Lufkin (first witch to become Minister for Magic), Cyprian Youdle (Only Quidditch referee ever to die during a match), Greta Catchlove(Author of 'Charm Your Own Cheese'), Jockunda Sykes and Salazar Slytherin (Co-founder of Hogwarts). Harry finally tore his eyes away from the druidess Cliodna, who was scratching her nose, to open a bag of Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans.
