The next morning I adopted my duties to help The Facility run. Foof explained my day to me.

"From sunrise to nine you go hunting. You can bring your breakfast with you." He handed me a small bag, containing what I guessed to be my breakfast.

"Then you have 15 minutes to make it to the porch before you can practice with your weapons. I'll meet you there today. Normally Jey handles that stuff, but given the circumstances..." He shrugged a bit and continued. "That ends at 11:45 or so."

"Noon to one is lunch with the rest of our big old happy family. Then you can split off with the sisters to do, well, whatever they do all day, from 1:15 to three."

He smiled a bit at his next statement. "Then from 3:15 to five you can join me in the garden! I don't really know what you can help me with, but I hear Fae are big on crops, so I'll put ya to use!"

"Then from 5:30 to 6:30 its dinner! Hopefully there will be brownies. I love brownies..."

He got back on track then. "Then it's free time till 9:30, and bed at 10. Good luck! See you later!"

I rolled my eyes as the giant green waved at me with WAY more enthusiasm than was needed. I don't know if I would ever get used to him.

I walked off into the woods, following a path made by a deer, based on the many detours it had. I only had my food, a bag for game, and my weapons. After all, it was just hunting. Not an expedition into the unknown.

After a bit, I had a troupe of songbirds following me around. I counted a few robins, some cardinals, and blue jays, but most prominent were the wrens. they made up the bulk of the group, hopping from branch to branch like it was a second nature. which I guess it was.

I nailed some rabbits and a few squirrels before stopping for lunch in an oak tree with low, sweeping branches. As I quietly ate, I had the feeling I was being watched. I looked around, but saw no one besides the birds perched in a branch not too far away.

I grumbled to myself about being too paranoid and started cleaning up the tree. So of course, I wasn't expecting it when my second flashback hit.

A/N So, to make up for missing all those updates, I posted another chapter. But I've only actually written up to 9, so after that it's going to take a bit longer. Sorry 'bout that.
