— "All my talent, it doesn't grow on trees." —The 'perfume', if you could call it that, was like a purple mist sprinkled with gold dust. It felt a little rough when I breathed it in, but it created a feeling of euphoria that had a smile spreading across my face that kind of hurt my cheeks. It was so strong at first that I instinctively took a deep breath in, and instead of breathing it out in a sigh, I sang!
Like, high-pitched and everything! It was beautiful! My voice had completely transformed like a boring old caterpillar evolving into a dazzling butterfly!
If I knew trolls could make me sound like this, I would've hunted down their entire village!
When the overwhelming feeling passed, I shakily lifted the diamond bottle to my face to peer at Floyd. He looked a little worse than before with his teal colour fading around his feet, turning almost translucent, which was a little funky. Did trolls go see-through when they died? And it looked like his hair was losing its colour too, unless it was just because he was getting old. Unlikely but possible. And he seemed tired with his body now slumped to the bottom of the cage. I almost felt a little bad. Almost.
"So," I said, dragging out the 'oh' sound with an innocent little smile. Well, I tried to make it look innocent. I don't think it worked though since Floyd was looking at me like a cornered animal. "You said Brozone was coming to save you, right?" I tapped my finger on my chin.
Floyd's face twisted into a mix of desperation and defeat, "No, please don't hurt my brothers!"
I laughed, placing him back down on the counter in favour of collecting the makeup bags that I had pre-packed earlier, "I'm not going to hurt your brothers, Floyd. That'd be a little bit counterproductive. I'm just going to capture them and drain them of all their talent for Velvet and Veneer! Though, to be honest, I'll probably keep one or two of you for myself," I snorted, "A girl's got to do what a girl's got to do, you know?"
"Ah, can you let me out of the closet before you go?" Crimp yelled from inside the closet, "My wifi doesn't work properly in here."
"Hm, let me think," I hummed, walking towards the door with absolutely zero intention of letting Crimp out, "I think you should stay in there and reflect, you know, about your role in all of this. You're no innocent bystander."
I closed the door behind me, and when I checked I was by myself, I couldn't contain a squeal. Oh. My. Gosh! I cannot believe I just did that! Not only did I find out about Velvet and Veneer's dirty little secret, but now I finally have a way to get famous. Sure, it's not the humane way to go about this situation, but did I care?
Psh, of course not! That's just hilarious!
Now, what was the best way to deal with this? I contemplated as I began to follow the directions I memorized for the twin's photoshoot.
The first thing to do is tell Velvet and Veneer, right? I mean, they did leave the troll out in the open so maybe seeing him was a test? Or did they just forget to hide him because they were only used to Crimp being around and she already knew? Hell, she probably got the troll for them. Ah! I don't know! This was unknown territory. I didn't want to be fired because I found something I shouldn't have, but I also didn't want to be fired because I was hiding that I knew about him.
Besides, wouldn't it be a little strange for me to give Velvet and Veneer more trolls when I supposedly didn't know about them? And, if I didn't tell them, I'd have to steal the troll to practice. That did not sit well with me. Huh, that's funny. I don't like the idea of stealing from the twins, but can watch a little troll die for fame. Wicked, but wicked good!
