The Call

~Veneer's POV~

"And did you see his beanie?? Wasn't it so cool?"

"No, it wasn't. So many Mount Rageons own those." Velvet looks at me. "If you mention that interviewer boy one more time I'm going to go insane."

"Sorry," I reply. "I just liked his outfit."

"And his hair, and his eyes... so I've heard." the limo pulls up to our mansion and she opens her umbrella. I reach for mine, but then I  remember that I gave it to Ritz.

"Vel...?" I smile innocently at her.

"No, you can't have my umbrella. It wasn't my fault you gave that guy yours." She looks at me and adds, "Also, your hair is already soaked."

"Fine." We get out of the limo and I run past her to get inside and out of the pouring rain. Velvet hangs her umbrella on the hook next to the door and walks toward her room.

"Go freshen up," she calls. "We have that fan meet-and-greet in an hour, remember?" Oh, that's right! I sprint up the stairs to my room and fix my hair. I really wish I left it down more, but the fans like the gel, so I don't have much of a choice. I wrap my hair in a towel to try and dry the rainwater off. I'm about to reapply my eyeshadow when my phone starts buzzing. I pick it up and then almost drop it again when I see who's calling me. I quickly answer and hope I don't look too stupid.

"Hiiii, Ritzy!!" I say as the call connects. His face shows up on the screen, but he doesn't look like the same energetic guy I met earlier. He's also outside?? "Why are you in the rain? Are you at least using the umbrella I gave you?"

He nods and answers, "Yeah, I've got it right here. And I just needed someone to talk to." He pauses for a minute before continuing. "You're not busy right now, are you? I don't want to bother you."

"No, you're alright!" I prop the phone up next to my mirror and start to put on a new layer of eyeshadow. "I'm just getting ready for an event later. Now, why are you in the rain again?"

He doesn't answer me. I put down my makeup brush and look at the screen. He muted himself, but I can still see his face. It might just be rain, but I think...

"Ritzy, are you crying?? What's wrong?!" I pick up my phone again. He wipes his eyes and unmutes.

"Yeah... sorry. I'm in the rain because I caught my boyfriend cheating on me, so I broke up with him. He owns the house we live in, so I don't really have anywhere to go." I stare at him for a minute, and his eyes widen with embarrassment. "Oh shit, I didn't mean to dump all that on you. Sorry, you probably have more important things to do..."

"No!! No, don't say that." I pull the towel off my head because my hair is dried enough. "Don't say that. It's okay."

"...Are you sure?" His voice breaks a little, and I feel really bad for him.

"Yes, I'm sure." I smile at him, and he seems to calm down a bit. "I'm sorry that happened. Do you need anything?"

"No... but thank you for listening to me." He smiles back, and I feel my face get hot. I quickly turn back to the mirror and start to fix my hair to try and hide it.

"Yeah, of course Ritzy. Anytime." I start to gel my hair back up, and Ritz doesn't say anything for a while. Finally, he speaks up.

"I know you might not agree, but I love how your hair looks when it's not styled." I look over at my phone, looking ridiculous because my hair is only half gelled. "You're one of the only guys I know who can actually pull off a mullet."

"Do you really think so?" I ask.

"Yeah." He replies, and we kind of just smile at each other for a minute.

"...So," I break the silence, finishing my hair and grabbing my lipstick. "Me and Vel have an event later. Meet-and-greet for fans."

"Oh! Are you excited for that?" Ritz asks, tilting his head slightly.

"Yeah, I really like meeting fans, even if my sister finds it kind of annoying." I put on a new layer of lipstick and look back at the call. "Would you wanna... meet me there? Like, it would be nice to have someone I actually know there."

He looks surprised, but he nods. "Yeah, sure! Where at?"

"It's at the mall right by the TV studio, actually. Are you close?"

"Yeah, I am. I think I can walk there at this point." he answers.

"So... will I see you there?" I ask hopefully.

"Yeah, definitely! See you there." Ritz grins at me. "I'll head over now."

"Awesome! Okay, I need to finish getting ready. Text me when you're there." I wave and he waves back, and I hang up. As soon as the call ends, I hug the phone to my chest and spin around. I grin at the mirror and Velvet yells from her room,

"VENEER! HURRY UP!!"

"SORRY!" I yell back as I quickly change into dry clothes and run down the stairs. Velvet comes down a minute later and we walk to the limo. Luckily the rain has mostly stopped now, so we get in mostly dry.

"What're you so happy about?" Velvet asks me.

"Oh, nothing. Just... excited for the meet-and-greet!" I answer.

"Okay, but I have no idea why you like these." she says. "I hate signing autographs."

I half listen to her as she continues to list reasons why she hates the fan meets, but I can't help but be excited for who I'll see when we get there. I can't wait to see Ritzy again!

New updates might be slow because I'm going back to school tomorrow but I'll try to post as much as possible :D
