I woke up feeling a warm comfort. Deans arms were wrapped around me. I could feel his hairy, muscular legs tangled with mine. I could feel his steady, sleeping breathes on my skin. He was spooning me and I made no effort to break free. I closed my eyes again and laid my head back down. I wanted to be in the moment for a while. I felt so calm.

Unfortunately, his phone decided too soon that my moment was over as it buzzed mercilessly on the night stand. Reaching his heavy arm over my head, he grabbed his phone and answered it.

"Hello?" His morning voice was gravel and sexy. "What? Aw come on, man! No, this is my day off! You called Cooper? Fuck! Alright, gimme a little. I'll be in. Yeah, you owe me." He hung up his phone and looked at me. "Good morning." He kissed me and I instantly felt more awake.

"You have to go to work today?" I asked, sitting up and pulling the blanket up over my shoulders. Dean sat at the edge of the bed and ran a hand through his hair.

"Yeah, I do. Just for a few hours." He stood up and found his jeans that had been tossed on the floor. "Someone fucked up the color on a clients project and I gotta go play super man. But, I'll be back after work and we'll go get dinner or something." He flashed his smile at me. I offered a weak smile as he stood. He got himself ready and kissed me before walking out the door.

After he left, I set up my laptop and head set for a few hours of work. I tried to focus on my calls but my mind was far away from me. I felt something in my chest all day. For some reason, the hours went by slower than they ever had. It seemed like an eternity of client calls before my phone lit up. My heart jumped.

Minnie: Sooooo?

My heart dropped. I was hoping it was Dean.

Arabella: So what?

Minnie: 🍆?

Arabella: No sex, just oral.

Minnie: That's it? Was it good?

Arabella: Too good. He slept over. Got called into work but told me he'll take me out later.

Minnie: Awww how sweet of him

Arabella: It is but I feel like he's going to cancel. I just have a feeling.

Minnie: Try to think positive. Keep me updated.

I locked my phone before focusing on more calls. When finally my day was done, I closed my eyes and tilted my head back on the couch. After just a few seconds, I felt my phone vibrate. I saw the contact and excitement or panic set in.

"Hey." I said, trying to sound casual. I could hear in the background what sounds like ladders being placed and buckets being set down.

"Hey baby." Deans voice was apologetic. I knew what was coming next. "They had painted two of the walls with the wrong color before anyone realized it was the wrong color. This job has to be finished by today or none of us get paid. I'm really sorry, honey. But I have to stay and get it done." He truly sounded apologetic.

"I understand. Don't worry about it. I tried my best not to sound disappointed but I think it still came through in my tone. "You're just doing your job. I respect it."

"Don't be upset, baby. I'll make it up to you, I promise." His voice was a sexy tease. "I gotta get back, but I'll call you when I get home."

After we hung up, I lazed on the couch. Watching my favorite comfort show and investing myself into a word search. A bit of time passes but I can't tell how long, before a knock on my door snaps me out of my fixation on my word search and makes me jump. When I looked through the peel hole, no one was there.

I opened the door and looked to either side of my apartment. No one was there. I looked down and I saw a brown paper bag and a to-go cup. The bag had a receipt stapled to it. The receipt shows it's a gift delivery from Dean.

Dinners on me tonight, I'm sorry I couldn't take you out but I'm happy you understand. Enjoy, beautiful. The receipt note section said. When I opened the bag, the smell was recognizable in a second. It was my favorite cheesesteak and fries from a small local deli. My stomach growled immediately. I sat on the couch to enjoy my meal and decided to call Dean to say thank you. Even if I got the voice mail, I could still say thank you.

Ring...ring...ri-
"Hello?" My heart sank at the sound of a woman's voice. "Hello? Who is this?" I hung up fast. Before I could even register what just happened, tears were falling from my eyes. I felt angry and sad and confused.

I threw the food away. My stomach felt awful. My heart was simultaneously racing and sinking. I went to my room, closed the door and lay under the covers. Crying to myself. How could I have been so stupid!? Of course, he's married. No one that amazing could ever be single. Or into me. It was all some kind of sick game or joke.

Pulling my phone out of my pocket. I pulled up Deans contact. Under his name was a company description. This must've been the "special contact" he was talking about at the bar. "Sexy Painter Man". Very funny.

I called Minnie.

"Hello?" Minnie answered.
"He's married." I stated through sobs. Minnie held her silence for about 15 seconds.
"I'm on my way." Minnie was all seriousness. She hung up quick. No more than 8 minutes later, my door swung open and Minnie laid down next to me in my bed. Immediately, I began sobbing again.

She let me cry until I couldn't anymore. I sat up and tried to straighten myself, but failed. Minnie rubbed my shoulder and handed me a tissue. I blew my nose and sighed. "I called him to say thank you for the food he sent. She picked up the phone." I explained.

"What did you say?" Minnie asked calmly. I shrugged.
"I hung up. What could I say?" I questioned. "It must've been his wife. What other woman would be answering his phone?"
Minnie sighed, "Have you even spoken to him about this?"
I shook my head. "I blocked his number. I never want to see him again."
